[InterZone Chatter] The Warlock Lord | A Zenan Bridge guard cries out over the radio. "Zenan Bridge is under attack!"
[InterZone Chatter] Cloud Strife says, "Zenan?"
[Hero-IC] Jim Raynor says, "Chrono Zone i think,"
[Hero-IC] Cody says, "Hoo boy."
Chrono Zone - Guardia Castle
Nestled at the seat of the mountains, the kingdom of Guardia is one of the oldest in the world, the thick forest that surrounds the mountains a safe home for the ruling family, their castle the most impressive in the world. Ships ferry travelers from here to the city of Porre to the south, and this place is always busy, travelers coming to Guardia from all parts of the world to trade.
The seat of the kingdom of Guardia, Guardia Castle is the seat of the largest kingdom in this part of the world. Ruled by a hereditary king, Guardia is a bastion of order in this peaceful land. Threats here are few and far between, and monsters seldom plague this part of the world. All in all, it's a safe place to live, and the nearby town is full of eager businessmen and happy villagers, as well as the Millenial Fair, which is just winding down to the north of the city.

[Hero-IC] Jim Raynor says, "Lets think which villains like to use those as minions..."
[Hero-IC] Cloud Strife says, "I'd guess some sort of werewolf guy. So, who's on-scene?"
"-There- they are."
The force going over the bridge registers on Simeon's sensors with a demure -bleep-, but Albedo's already spotted them. "A frontal assault..." he muses, then gives a little shake of his head. He heels Simeon over in a roll, sending it spiralling downward for the castle below. The weapons aren't warmed up yet; probably won't be. Even Albedo can occasionally recognize a case of 'serious overkill' when he sees it. Besides, this is a scouting mission. Thus the Kirschwasser, who keeps a passive eye on everything going on below them.
The AGWS' thruster-wings flare as Albedo pulls it into an efficient landing not far from the bridge, behind the werewolves. How's that for ominous? "Stay here," he orders the Kirschwasser brusquely, climbing out the mecha's cockpit. He leaps to the ground shortly after, landing just behind the 'front line'--with a wicked little smile on his face. This will be interesting.
Lucca Ashtear arrives from Chrono Zone - Arni Village.
Lucca Ashtear has arrived.
It almost seems as if the soldiers will fight the werewolves back - they seem distracted... waiting for something? Another howl of pain, and a Zenan soldier brings a werewolf down. The wolves are now outnumbered. The soldiers let out a cheer...
...one that dies in their throats. Another portal, one from which radiates pure evil, splits the air. A low cackle emits from it, and the Warlock Lord floats out. "AAAAHAHAHAHA! Foolish men of Guardia! Surrender your battles now, or be cut down as dogs!" They ignore the wizard, intent on the current battle. "So be it!" Talimar claps his hands, and mist begins to seep out of the portal. It comes...
Floating out from the portal is a shrouded fiend. A tattered cloak made of blackness covers its entire body, the only parts visible being it's skeletal hands and head. It swoops low toward the battle. "Now face my greatest creation! The Deathwraith!" With a hiss, two curved incandescent blades spring into the fiend's hands.
Somewhere on the bridge, a soldier sees it and screams.
As the Death-like creature emerges from the warp, it causes another sound to begin, an undercurrent to the chaos. It sounds like... a bad radio, sputtering and fizzing with static. And that sound is the announcement.... someone is coming toward the bridge.
The hail of gunfire is the other announcement. A submachinegun rings out in a loud cycle of rounds, blazing up into the empty sky. The holder of the anachronistic weapon approaches soon after: a blonde teenager. She holds the weapon with one hand, firing off a few shots into the air before aiming it at the werewolf troupe, meanacingly.
There's an interesting development. From his vantage not too far from the bridge, Albedo both sees and hears the new girl coming with ease. He pauses, raising a hand to shade his eyes a moment as he watches Heather menace the wolves with the machinegun. He snickers to himself after a moment, and resumes his leisurely walk for the bridge. Let the front lines have their fun before he gets into it.
The werewolves? Ehn. With the battle at hand, they barely regard Heather. The Deathwraith takes notice, however, his skeletal head rotating evenly, eyeless sockets seeing nothing and yet far too much. Without taking its gaze off of her, the arms begin to move. The unfortunate soldier before the Deathwraith is summarily diced, blood splattering across the bridge, the fiend's swords removing each limb one at a time, juggling it into the air and into fewer pieces with each strike. Blood splatters onto the robes of darkness, melting into it and swirling throughout the gloomy mass.
Precise work is quite a difficult thing to do in and of itself; finding the proper combination of chemicals for a new fuel can be an incredibly difficult task. The only thing /more/ difficult... is trying to save it when you accidentally knock it over when turning to see what the deuce is going on outside. A small test tube shatters, and Lucca stifles a frustrated scream. That /has/ to be annoying.
Of course, the best solution to an attack on your home by horrific creatures which indirectly causes you to lose days of research tends to involve the Wondershot. Running toward the bridge, Lucca fires a few shots at some of the monsters, the Wondershot's Sun Stone-based mechanics focusing the energy- and thus, the damage- in a different way each time.
Red Mage arrives from Chrono Zone - Arni Village.
Red Mage has arrived.
Blood? She's seen it.
Heather feels a pang of regret at having to watch the man die, but, it barely lasts, with a battle joined. She pulls the trigger on the gun, and a sea of rounds storm out into the front legion of werewolves, like a cloud. She actually walks in slowly as she steps onto the bridge, keeping that gun firing until her feet strike onto the wooden surface. When she does, she stops firing for just a moment, and her eyes lock onto those of Death. She gives him a dark glare, pitiless enough to make a lesser monster shirk.
Albedo is--not surprisingly--watching the gruesome little display the bridge with a certain amount of avid interest. This doesn't mean he's unaware of his surroundings--so when Lucca goes running past, the madman's attention shifts focus. Now, now, we can't have someone attacking from -behind- the front lines...that would cause problems. He picks up from a casual walk to a jog after her, eyes narrowing as he considers the -best- way to approach this little tactical problem.
Perhaps running up behind her and grabbing her by the shoulder would work best. Which the madman does, picking up to a sprint long enough to catch up with her, looking to snag a shoulder and spin her around by main force alone. "And where are -you- going...?"
Albedo Piasora strikes Lucca Ashtear with his trivial Be glad I'm just grabbing your shoulder. attack.
o/` You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round, like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round... o/`
Albedo succeeds, turning Lucca back around to face him. "Who are you?" she asks, having not met the fairly new addition to Videoland; she figures, for the moment, that it's best to get a little more information before doing anything. She still keeps the Wondershot at the ready, however. Adventuring with Crono has made her a bit more careful during situations like this.
The Warlock Lord wills his throne of darkness into existence as he watches the fight. A few werewolves go down with Heather's first volley, but again, the Deathwraith simply continues to stare at her. The first unfortunate soldier now lies in a pile before it, and the creature moves to the next. It eschews its swords in favor of the power of its cloak, tendrils of black whipping out to curl around the armored man. He screams as he is lifted into the air, and simultaneously pulled in about fifteen different directions.
Oooh. Bet that hurt.
A bright red star appears in the sky. Oh wait. It's moving. Fast. For your general direction. Hold on to your hats, angry incoming Mage.
Albedo pauses, drawing his hand back from Lucca's shoulder. He doesn't answer her question immediately, instead giving her a long, considering stare. Almost a leer. Then he seems to visibly snap back to the present, and reaches in--to try and take her glasses. "Call me Albedo," he says, pleasantly, as he does.
Wait, he's trying to take her -glasses-?
Albedo Piasora misses Lucca Ashtear with his trivial *snatch* attack.
[Hero-IC] Lucca Ashtear clicks. "Does anyone know anything about someone named Albedo?"
[Hero-IC] The Guardian says, "He goes away when you shoot his groin off."
[Hero-IC] Gradius Commander David Burton says, "Connecting to the Gradian Library...Searching...Nope, nadda."
[Hero-IC] Jim Raynor says, "Psychopath from KOS-MOS and CO's zone can regenerate any injury..."
[Hero-IC] Gradius Commander David Burton says, "Ah, that would definately explain it. Knowledge of that zone is kinda, well...Nil."
[Hero-IC] The Guardian says, "He seems to be more or less indestructible, and he has some sort of creepy desire to remove data from MOMO. However, he also seems to suffer from advanced psychosis, so if you hit him vigorously enough he'll probably go away."
[Hero-IC] Gradius Commander David Burton says, "I'm just glad all that Gnosis activity settled down...We never did learn if it would even be possible to adapt the Vic Viper's weapon system so it could fight them."
[Hero-IC] Alucard says, "These Gnosis are indeed strange beings..."
[Hero-IC] The Guardian says, "I'll say."
[Hero-IC] The Guardian says, "Oh, also, if you attack Albedo... try to bring backup."
Heather Mason tosses the gun over her shoulder, letting the strap catch it onto her back. Still staring at the Deathwraith, and what it's wrought, she entones: "I'm impressed." She reaches behind her back, and quickly pulls out a long heft of steel pipe. She slaps it against her opposite palm, and, then, suddenly, charges forward. Never one to fear the reaper... She actually grabs the head of a soldier in her way, and shoves him aside as she pounds her feet against the bridge. As soon as she's in range, she takes a swing at the cloaked monster, the tube making a low whistle in the air.
[Hero-IC] Jim Raynor says, "We are still finding salt on the hyperion from their last attack."
[Hero-IC] Heather Mason talks over static. "She has it."
[Hero-IC] The Guardian says, "KOS-MOS, who is comparable and perhaps superior to me in terms of firepower, has been defeated twice by him."
[Hero-IC] Lucca Ashtear says, "I... see. Thank you!"
Red Mage snarls, as his form resolves further into clarity. Red Mage, cloaked in bard's garb, hefting a very large electric guitar, hurtles for the general direction of Talimar. His method of propulsion? Those winged boots he's got. His method of attack? The Power of ROCK.
Heather meets no resistance whatsoever as she charges toward the Deathwraith. Talimar has commanded his wolves to stay away from her, eager to see the Deathwraith enact his own vengeance. The Deathwraith doesn't even shift as she approaches, reveling in the taste of the latest death. Oddly enough, Heather's pipe meets no resistance either, swiping through the darkness with a low whoosh. The cloak seems to part, a swipe clearly visible through it, but it reforms just as quickly. The skull then moves to regard Heather. A low grating sound scrapes through the air as the swords vanish and bony hands reach for the woman.
Talimar, meanwhile, simply looks up and to the left. "...hm. So he's decided to show, has he?" Clutching the Staff of Gehenna, Talimar rises to his feet, the throne dissipating. He digs the tip into the ground, stands, and waits.
And between the attempted theft, and what she found out after asking about the name on the Heroes' channel, Lucca is /quite/ sure that he's not on her side. She jumps back, and reaches around in her pockets, looking for something... and she finds it. Tossing a small sphere at Albedo, it explodes on contact with something- be it Albedo, or the ground.
Lucca Ashtear misses Albedo Piasora with her Napalm: It's (Techno-)Magically Delicious! attack.
"Whoa!" Heather leaps back after discovering that her trusty pipe has had no effect. This wasn't just a garden-variety monster... Her radio sounds in crackling all around her. Enough to tell her that, like anything, it CAN be defeated. She'll just have to come up with another strategy. Still holding the heavy pipe in one hand, she brings the gun around with the other, bracing it on her left shoulder. She squeezes the trigger, punishing out another volley of rounds into the monster's cloak.
The descent doesn't slow down. The Mage keeps moving at this massive speed. What is he thinking? The guitar itself resolves into a large red flying-V, and seems to be heavily weighted, with what appears to be a pullstarter on one side. Hmmm... It's this weighty instrument that Red Mage tries to jam into Talimar's chest. It swings with a musical /thrum/.
Red Mage strikes The Warlock Lord with his Lute... I mean, Gibson attack.
Alessa arrives from Chrono Zone - End Of Time.
Alessa has arrived.
Red Mage strikes The Warlock Lord with his Lute... I mean, Gibson attack.
The Deathwraith's cloak simply parts around Heather's bullets, possibly jarring his essence but not doing much more. With a screech of rage at her insolence, the fiend lunges, cloak tendrils flaring, arms outstretched.
Talimar grunts as he staggers back. A guitar? Come now. A _GUITAR?_ This insults the wizard more than harms him. With a snarl, he blinks a few feet away, presenting his staff and chanting. Runes appear around the warlock, each speeding to the ground directly beneath the opposing magician. Within moments of the spell's completion, the earth bubbles and lurches. Magma and flames burst up under the Red Mage.
The Warlock Lord strikes Red Mage with his Hellfire attack.
Red Mage takes the blast, but instead of actually hurting him, the mage's body seems to flicker in and out slightly. The flickerign stops, leaving him looking burned now... Odd that. He sighs, and looks at Talimar. "You haven't changed a bit, Old Man. Too bad I have." He cackles, and swings the guitar again, looking to connect with Talimar's head. But this time, a white aura has kicked up behind the weapon, moving swiftly.
Red Mage strikes The Warlock Lord with his Ice Swo...Guitar attack.
Heather Mason can't do much at this range, with her submachine. The Deathwraith gets close enough with its grasp to brush its deadly touch against her shoulders, and, she pulls away only slightly, taking the close-range oppurtunity to spit in its face. Not having any magical spells handy, she wonders if there's anything she has that can smack this thing more efficiently. Her eyes dart sideways, and she sees...well, an ally, maybe? That had to be SOMEBODY useful hitting the Warlock with a guitar. "How do I KILL this thing?" she shouts.
Red Mage snarls back, circling TWL. "Fire or Holy magic!"
Somewhere, despite the relative technical inadequacy of Guardia, a tornado siren begins to blare its monotonous song into the air. And a person walks out of the door that leads to the kitchen-slash-mess hall. And in her hand, there is a cleaver. That person, who is looking like she's been rubbed vigorously with a cheese grater, begins to walk towards where the noise and weapons fire is at.
Heather Mason turns her head and yells at Red Mage: very irate. "I don't have that kind of s***!"
There's an interesting note. The spit spatters against the Deathwraith's skull, the sudden sensation jerking it to the side. Once it realizes the 'attack,' it rattles menacingly, the swords springing out of its sleeves. Another lunge, this one all twisty and pointy.
The Warlock's shields buckle as Red Mage hits them. "Damn you, mage. Just die this time, give us all a reprieve." He thrusts the orb of the staff into the mage's gut, chanting. "Epor... Epor... Epor!" Normally, that spell would make a rope rise. In the hands of its creator, however, it is far more menacing. From somewhere within the Warlock's robe, long, ragged ropes lurch out. They wrap around the mage and twist... that's one hell of a friction burn.
The Warlock Lord strikes Red Mage with his Epor attack.
Red Mage snarls in pain as he is forced to drop the guitar, as a rope decides to give him an indian burn. One around each of his arms, and his waist, the mage is limited in his choices now. Except, wait. He's still got his voice. And You don't leave a bard his voice. He opens his mouth, and starts singing hymns.
Red Mage strikes The Warlock Lord with his Holy Verse attack.
Heather Mason is surprised, to say the least. Apparently her spit is holy magic. Who knew?
She doesn't think too long about this...because she doesn't want to. She's too busy bringing that pipe around, to block the incoming bladed surge. She manages to put up enough defense to keep from getting cut, but, holding her ground, her feet skid, and she can't yet make a return attack, spit or otherwise. (Fire...fire. Hm.)
And NOW that blood-caked figure is marching dutifully out of Guardia castle, still holding that, shall we say, liberated cleaver. She's approaching the bridge, moving deliberately and holding the cleaver at her side rather loosely. The siren, wherever it may be, continues to blare. Perhaps it would be familiar to Heather; perhaps not. Either way, the relatively small size of Guardia works in Alessa's favor...
And when she sees the Warlock Lord as well as the others, she adjusts the grip on that cleaver and lifts it, slightly.
Heather Mason whips the pipe around, and brings it down on the top of the cloaked figure's more solid-looking head. That should do something...
And, it apparently does, striking into the creature and destroying it.
But now she has another problem... even with the Wraith stopped, the static hasn't... And, then, that damn siren. She turns around in on the bridge, her heavy pipe still in hand, to see if something else is about to approach...
By simple expedience of just -stepping back-, Albedo gets out of the way of the explosive with time to spare. He does make a disappointed tsking noise in the back of his throat, as he's denied of his prize, and gives a little snap of his fingers. "And what's your name?" he replies, amiably enough. He raises a hand--but doesn't attack her, yet, favoring her with the kind of look a cat might give a mouse it's cornered.
And as TWL vanishes, Red Mage spins around, trying to spot him. He's pulled this trick before...
Alessa is probably visible from the direction that TWL was at - and she's holding a cleaver up! Although she looks mildly surprised when the big bad Warlock Man vanishes, and the bleating siren even pauses for a nice long moment. Will it restart? It depends on what happens next.
Red Mage snarls, and can't find Talimar. And now he's angry.
Heather Mason has no problem spotting Alessa. Alessa is like a hole carved into her brain... her vision locks right there, right on her, and her hearing picks up on the waver in the sirens, and the still-present hum of static. She swings her arm without even looking, and completely coldcocks a slightly confused werewolf with the heavy pipe. Then, she starts to walk back off the bridge, wary and ready for another attack...but, somehow, not expecting it. "ALESSA! Did you bring my father's gun!?"
Alessa continues to look confused, and the potential transformation of this segment of the kingdom of Guardia into a Bad Place remains in abeyance. She looks at Heather with puzzlement, and then her lightly-poached brain manages to remind her of what she said she'd do. "Not with me," she calls over, sort of tossing the cleaver towards the shoreline off to the side of the bridge. There, maybe a Mystic will find it and they'll gain the secret of iron working. "Tabasco or whatever his name is was saying he was about to kill you." And she was coming to - help? But help which side!
Lucca, too, does nothing for the moment. Stepping back a little herself, she says, "Lucca." Giving Albedo a somewhat confused look, she continues to step back, keeping the Wondershot at the ready... and beginning to chant a little something, just in case. She isn't even sure she knows the words herself, just exactly what they do.
Heather Mason sheathes the lead pipe back on her back, and narrows her eyes at Alessa. No weapons means...no weapons. Her feet hit the grass at the edge of the bridge, and there, she stops. "He exaggerated."
Alessa shrugs one shoulder and gesticulates vaguely towards where TWL was standing, more or less; the antics of Glasses Girl and Kirschwasser-molester King are tuned out, which is one of the more pleasant side effects of being focused. Besides, it's a big bridge. "Well, he's an asshole anyway."
Red Mage escapes into a warp zone.
"Lucca," Albedo repeats, turning the name into a sinister purr. As she retreats, he paces toward her, keeping his eyes on hers. "Lucca, from...Lux?" His attention is momentarily diverted as, oh fsck, his backup is now gone. No, wait, that's not such a bad thing, especially since he wasn't considering entering combat. Yet. "For--light?" he muses aloud. He doesn't attack her--yet. Not yet, not yet...
"Yeah, seemed to be," Heather responds to Alessa. "So... I'm FINE now, and you can go home." Or...she could kill her right there? No preference.
"I've never really looked into the meaning of the name," Lucca replies, mildly bewildered by the fact that she's having a conversation with someone she was throwing explosives at a minute later. "Though I guess that'd be likely... why do you ask?" She shifts her finger from the side of the trigger to /on/ the trigger; this is getting a little creepy.
Alessa nods, once. And turns to do just that - before pausing and saying, over her shoulder, "Where should I bring the gun to?" She must be trusting to turn her back on someone who'd be happy to kill her -- oh wait, psychic defense field.
Heather Mason suddenly hears a gasp of pain, and looks down...seeing one of the werewolf-injured soldiers choking on the surface of the bridge.
Her compassion--the main difference between herself and Alessa--kicks back in, and, she winces, shaking her head. "We'll talk about it later. Or bring it here...if you want. I think I'm gonna be here a while."
Alessa gives the wounded man a dispassionate look. He shouldn't whine so much; she didn't cry. Not after the first couple of minutes. "All right. Do you want a first-aid kit for them, too?" she says, still speaking over her shoulder towards Heather. She doesn't particularly care about the troopers, but even so.
"I'm curious." That's a bad sign. Doubly so that Albedo hasn't actually assaulted her yet, not even after that whole 'explosives' thing. Then again, it probably doesn't -matter- much to him. Slowly, slowly, he continues to advance, eyes flickering toward the gun as her hand moves on the trigger. Then he's looking her in the eyes again, beginning to smile. "Are you afraid I'm going to hurt you?"
Heather Mason shoulders the gun off, letting it fall to the ground for now, and reaches into her vest pocket. She has an ampoule on hand...then again, she almost always does. She gets down on her knees, and tosses Alessa a glare over her shoulder, before facing the wounded man again. "What do you care?"
"Just asking," is the calm (if squeaky) answer, and then Alessa wanders off towards the forest. In there, she'll find some misty spot and wander back to Silent Hill.
Heather Mason gives the man a shot, which, if not healing him right away, at least causes the pain to cease somewhat... numbing him. She pulls a first aid kit of her own from somewhere in her vest: flipping it open on the bridge. Combat first aid is a skill she has, but, like, any skill, only the barest basics for survival.
Alessa, at present, is taking a shortcut through Nowhere on her way to Silent Hill to collect stuff for to give to Heather. At least the frigging sirens aren't still blaring.
Heather Mason is leaned on her knees, on the bridge, administering first aid to a wounded bridge guard. She has a first aid kit open next to her, and is concentrating on her work. Other guards are already dead, ripped apart by blades, or attacks by werewolves, but a few others are living, tending to their fellow injured as best they can.
Alessa, meanwhile, arrives in Silent Hill and goes to collect one of the guns of her father from Lisa. Once at the hospital, she takes care to take the bullets out of the gun - she may be being generous towards Heather, but giving her a loaded gun would probably cause problems.
Heather Mason already has a loaded gun, but, it's at her side. At this point, she's moved on to another soldier... using up a second roll of bandages. Her face wrinkles. Stupid heroes. Never around when she needed 'em. Not that she ever depended on other people in the past.
And from those mists, now, comes Alessa - with the gun in one hand, held by the barrel so that Heather won't get any bad ideas. And... there's someone walking behind her, too. And looking frightened, and even somewhat ridiculous in her retro nurse's uniform. "Heather," Alessa calls, lifting her voice and sounding slightly more absurd than usual as the little-girl nature of it doesn't go away one bit.
Heather Mason stiffens at the famliar return of static on her radio, and stands, when she hears her name. Her back is facing Alessa, at first, but she swiftly turns around... even though, at this point, she's very certain she won't be shot. Her eyes lock on Alessa again...and, then, move to the side. Squinting, through the mist.
"Y...yes." Lucca seems to be losing a little confidence here; Albedo's creepiness is certainly throwing her off. Even Zeal wasn't /this/ bizarre. She continues to back away, for a moment, but then her confidence, essentially, gets its second wind. She fought through an entire /castle/ to save Crono, after all; why can't she fight one man? She stands her ground, bringing the Wondershot up.
Alessa steps forwards, holding the gun out! By the barrel still. And as far as that shape behind her goes...
She steps forwards, smiling awkwardly, and reaches up to adjust her nurse hat a little. "Hello, Heather," she says in her slightly clueless but earnest Midwestern accent. "I've heard a - a lot about you. Would you mind if I helped?"
Heather Mason is hit by a sudden rush of fear. It blindsides her, in fact; she's surprised at it, and it makes her knees waver. Immediately, she tries to hide it, keeping her stance calm...and in the process, accidentally giving Lisa a cold glare that makes Heather seem like she's the evil one, here. "Please do," she says, in her own hoarse voice. She turns her eyes off Lisa, with another quick glance, and, then, walks up to Alessa, hand out to accept the gun.
Lisa is a professional, and doesn't do more than smile hesitantly at Heather when she gives her that glare. And then she goes over to one of the injured soldiers, unpacking a small first-aid kit and beginning to do, well, her nursely thing.
Alessa steps forwards, although not all of the way to Heather, and holds out the gun. She'll have to walk forward and get it herself - and hopefully she won't be too tempted to pull the trigger, just to see.
Albedo's attention wavers a moment from Lucca at the surge of fear from Heather; like a shark can sense blood, the URTV knows someone's afraid. But other matters are a -little- more pressing, and it diverts him only a moment. He presses forward, smiling indulgently as Lucca tries to stand her ground. "Then," he takes another step, practically pressing up against the gun--as he leans forward, to stare her straight in the eyes. "Why don't you shoot me?"
Heather Mason walks all the way up to Alessa, with measured steps, and, takes the gun. She feels the weight in her hand. Unable to judge if it's loaded or not...she...doesn't bother firing, at all. She just turns it around in her hand, holding it the correct way with a quick flip, then, slipping it into an unoccupied belt-loop. "Thanks."
It puzzles her why Alessa is being so nice. It puzzles her why SHE is being so nice. But then, on another level, she understands. She examines Alessa's face, for just a moment.... (She looks like me. Just...so smooth. Artificially smooth.)
"Well, you haven't taken any further hostile moves," she begins, tightening her grip on the trigger- though still not pushing it down all the way. She holds her ground firmly despite Albedo's drawing closer, and taps a button on her helmet, readying it for something that she might need soon. She also begins to move toward the /other/ weapon she carries at her side- a mallet- with the same hand she used for tapping the helmet a moment ago.
Alessa nods, once, and even smiles. Slightly, trying not to be threatening. She then glances over at Lisa, who is actually doing quite a good job, and then says thoughtfully, "Do you remember how dad got that gun?"
Heather Mason's eyes go dark, and she looks at the ground, and up, furtively, as she tries to remember. "I think he said...we had it from m-- er... from Cyb-- that..." Heather clears her throat. A pause. "Yeah. I...think I remember... how. Right?" She turns her foot, half of her body facing Lisa, now. "I've never met her," she says, her voice suddenly dull and heavy. This statement is a half-truth, and it sounds like she's saying something she regrets being able to say.
"Mmmm?" Albedo doesn't move. One would -think-, if someone had a gun pressed to his sternum, he'd be at least a little uneasy--but the madman gives no indication of being disturbed. "Any 'further' hostile moves? Well well. -Someone- hasn't been briefed." He pauses, eyes narrowing as he stares into hers. "Or--do they not have a 'shoot on sight' order for me out yet...?"
Alessa nods, once, looking encouraging. And perhaps even kind. "Right, Cybil," she says, folding her hands behind her back and glancing over at Lisa again. "Oh. She's... well, she's the nicest person in town, I think, sometimes." She smiles, looking wistful. "If you want to talk to her - I don't mind. She might be able to answer any questions you have."
You'd be right there, Albedo. She hasn't. Though the fact that apparently he thinks there should be a kill-on-sight order out for him certainly pushes Lucca's mind back toward causing him harm. And, thus, Lucca finally squeezes that trigger. It's a weaker shot than usual; the internal workings must have been off. How unfortunate; the Sun Stone makes Lucca's gun quite powerful if she's /lucky/. And, in many cases, she isn't.
Lucca Ashtear strikes Albedo Piasora with her weak Wondershot: Low Roll attack.
Heather Mason nods to Alessa. Well...that would be pretty interesting, really. Maybe. Maybe it would be scary. She's not sure. She only moves completely when she--FINALLY--hears the shot that Lucca fires, down the bridge. Took that woman long enough.
Of course, staring down her own nemesis, impotently, she was not one to talk.
She walks back onto the bridge, and watches Lisa, inadveredtly turning her back to Alessa in the process. She watches with trepidation. "So. What'd she tell you?" she asks.
Alessa looks over at the fight between Captain Pedophile and Glasses Girl with a vague sense of interest. She does not, though, plant anything in Heather's back while that back is turned towards her. "Well, she didn't have to tell me much - most of it, I already knew. But she read me books and kept me company when things were the worst. But I'm sure you don't remember that all too clearly."
Gunshot. Even if Lucca's luck isn't with her, the distance--or lack thereof--Albedo's standing from her makes the point of damage quite moot. The URTV doesn't even flinches as Lucca pulls the trigger--though a moment after, he draws back, looking down and touching a hand speculatively to where the...wound should have been. Then he looks back up, face thoughtful. "Not as backward as I -thought-. ...Do you feel safer now?" On 'now', he lunges, lashing out with a hand to fetch her a cuff to the side of the head.
Albedo Piasora strikes Lucca Ashtear with his weak whack to the side of the head attack.
"Nnngh." Oh, wait. She does remember. Heather catches a good look at Lisa's profile, and, something from her past stabs into her brain like a knife. She puts a hand to her forhead...and clenches her teeth, as pain shoots up into her head, and gathers there, pulsing. Her knees shake...and then she drops down onto them.
Alessa looks at Heather with mild concern, but doesn't move to touch her or anything like that. After all, not only would that probably get her smacked or shot at, it could cause... other problems.
Lisa, though, looks up and then hustles over towards Heather, saying with surprise and concern, "Are you alright, miss?!" She quickly crouches down next to Heather and reaches up to feel her forehead.
Heather Mason doesn't seem to have much control over her actions or emotions at this point. She reaches out suddenly, and grabs Lisa's hand off her own forehead. She pushes her away by it, and glares up at the woman.... her eyes lined not with the dreary red of insomnia, but with a pure, pulsing red. "DON'T touch me." Her voice thickens with the strain of agony. "You're Alessa's nurse. Go with HER. You've done enough."
Lucca's trusty helmet protects her from a portion of the hit, but blunt trauma does still rather hurt; she feels quite a bit of pain for a moment. Still, Lucca the Great won't be defeated by one simple hit to the head! Holstering the Wondershot once again, Lucca takes her mallet in both hands, and with all the force she can muster, swings it- golf-style- at Albedo's leg.
Lucca Ashtear misses Albedo Piasora with her '(Not The Baka) Mallet' OR 'Fooooore!' attack.
Lisa steps back, looking startled. And, yes, looking afraid as well. "I... I, I'm sorry," she says, before hustling over quickly back towards the wounded, glancing furtively over her shoulder at the suddenly... different young woman. And she seemed so nice, too.
Alessa, meanwhile, is covering her mouth with one hand to hide a smile. She does, though, glance over at Lisa -- no, she isn't hurt, just a little scared. That's good.
Heather Mason fights the pain in her head. ... Why did she let Alessa do this to her? Why? She struggles to stand...and, doesn't look back--can't BEAR to. She knows that Lisa is a good person...that she had only done her best to keep her alive. But, she can't stand the memories, memories of being someone she REFUSES to be. Her breath seethes through her nose in huffs, and, the red around her eyes slowly dulls, as the pain subsides. She just SUPPRESSES it. She'd thank Alessa, for the gun, but at the moment--despite static--she just wants to pretend Alessa isn't there. "Lucca. I'm going home," she calls out.
But where Albedo was standing a moment before, he's not now. He twists away from the on-coming attack with ease--to face Heather, across all that distance. His attention is not on Lucca for the moment, it's on the girl standing by Alessa. Those purple eyes narrow, his look becoming one of absolute focus on whatever it is that he's feeling from her direction. Too far for him to get a real fix, but tantalizing, nonetheless.
Needless to say, it leaves him momentarily open for attack.
And Lucca is more than willing to oblige. While she /is/ a little confused by Albedo's constant lack of attention, she, nonetheless, continues the fight; swinging her mallet once again, she goes for a knockout shot. A headshot, to be precise. She shifts her weight a little, putting the whole of her momentum into it.
Alessa turns to look at Albedo - and not in a very pleasant way, either. She then lifts up one hand - not doing anything with it, just sort of pointing at the man. Nothing else happens... not yet, at least.
Lucca Ashtear strikes Albedo Piasora with her Headshot- With a Mallet! attack.
Heather Mason of course...wants to go home. But there is a small problem with this idea. She's on a bridge... and Alessa is behind her, and a combat is in front. Therefore...she'll have to walk through one or the other. She's unable to immediately make that choice, and, so, she stands frozen as Albedo turns to look at her.
Unfortunately for Albedo (well, as unfortunate as anything can be to the Amazing Indestructable Kiddie-Groper), Alessa is a jealous -Mother of God-. She shifts her hand a little bit, and then squeezes the thin air...
Which, in theory at least, will translate to a choking grip on Albedo's neck. Sure, he may be immortal and indestructible, but this should at least irritating him.
Alessa strikes Albedo Piasora with her Join me, Heather, and we can rule this Videoland as clone and clone. attack.
This phenomenon is very unusual, and as such, Lucca /stops/ hitting Albedo for a moment... and then stares as Alessa seems to do it for her. This... is confusing. She backs away a few steps, and watches for new developments, quietly chanting a Protect spell to herself.
Heather Mason glances over her shoulder. And in front of her. Well. They seemed to be suitably distracted NOW. So, she runs. She turns tail and runs... across the bridge, blazing right past Lucca and Albedo, and away from Alessa, away from the sirens that are starting to blare in her brain. The shadows that appear on the ground with each strike of her feet....linger, behind her, ever slightly.
Not very unfortunate at all, if something of a surprise. Unfortunately for Alessa, when Force-choked, Albedo does not do her the service of dropping to his knees, clawing at his throat and gasping. Nor does he even look particularly irritated--if anything, he seems more annoyed by the fact this gives Heather the opportunity to run off before he's quite done getting a look at her. It's an irritation he expresses by turning away from Alessa and lunging after Lucca. Perhaps he'll even catch her off guard, as he goes for the throat himself.
Albedo Piasora misses Lucca Ashtear with his if she's gone, I'll hurt -you- attack.
Alessa seems to be satisfied with getting Albedo's beady little eyes off of Heather, and after waiting a fairly respectful time to let Heather get underway - she touches Lisa on the shoulder, and the two of them go walking off to where-ever it is they came from.
Lucca shouldn't have been able to dodge that; it was an attack while she was thinking he was paying more attention to someone else, and she doesn't even have good reflexes to begin with... but perhaps luck was a factor as well in Lucca's little sidestep. Maybe that Protect spell even deflected him a little. But, regardless, Lucca needs to take another move. Getting out one of her earlier inventions- a fairly primitive flamethrower- Miss Ashtear tosses a little non-magical fire at Albedo.
Lucca Ashtear strikes Albedo Piasora with her weak Burn! Burn to the ground! Burn! (We Apologize For Associating With MMX7.) attack.
Heather Mason just runs...across the bridge, out of the way of the combat, hoping that, eventually, the pain in her head will subside. She doesn't have the presence of mind to look for a warp right now.
Alessa says, rather casually, "So, she's waking up," to Lisa. The nurse says, rather bashfully, "I know... I could feel it, too."
Fire, hm? It certainly doesn't slow Albedo down any. Certainly, it hurts him--for a moment or two, until the flames go out of their own accord and the blistering burns regenerate in a shimmer of light. He keeps moving, apparently rather intent on getting Lucca by the throat. This time, to choke and hold, with another idea in mind for when he -does- grab her...
Albedo Piasora strikes Lucca Ashtear with his if at first you don't succeed stun attack.
"Hrrk!" is the only reply Lucca is able to give, as Albedo is simply too fast for her. She is, however, mentally noting everything about Albedo's regeneration; it will definitely make an interesting topic of discussion if she /survives/ this.
Heather Mason nearly plants her face against a sturdy tree, in her need for increased speed...and, instead of slamming into it, she skids her arm across it, and uses it to slow her run. She puts her right arm against the trunk, and, wrapping it in a hug, she leans forward, feeling suddenly heavy. Her breath catches in her throat, and she breathes in, and out, in short, thick gasps.
Her hand scrapes against the trunk as she again drops to her knees, her lungs pounding in the same rhythm as her head. Her left hand fumbles at her pocket... fumbles and grabs onto that pistol: Cybil's gun... her father's gun. Heather clenches her hand around it, and tries to steady her body just with the memory of where it came from. (Dad.) Dad was a good man. Dad fought hard. He was brave.
Heather's hand, shaking, removes the gun from her pocket, and, up. She feels suddenly calm inside as she puts the barrel in her mouth, and points it upward, toward her own brain.
Shutting her eyes to the world, shutting her mind to the past, and her nostrils filling with the suddenly pleasant scent of leaves and pine... her fingers tremble loosely, then, grow taught.
She pulls the trigger.
But it wasn't loaded.
[Hero-IC] Heather Mason says, "...B***h."
[Hero-IC] Mega Man says, "Ugh. I've got to not stay out so late playing soccer."
[Hero-IC] Mega Man pauses. "You gotta put money in the swear jar!"
[Hero-IC] Heather Mason sobs. "...Yeah. Whatever."
[Hero-IC] Gum says, "We've got a swear-jar? Dangit."
Albedo's hand spasms closed on Lucca's throat, and without ceremony, he turns to drag her -with- him as he strides over to where Alessa is waiting on the bridge. He can 'hear', in a dim sense, the struggles that Heather is going through...which only makes him -more- interested in whatever reason the burned girl had for strangling him.
As he reaches the bridge, he throws Lucca to the ground none-too-gently and plants a foot on the back of her head. Friendly kind of guy, isn't he. "What's this about her 'awakening'?" he asks, voice a near-purr.
Albedo Piasora strikes Lucca Ashtear with his weak and stay down attack.
Lucca can't get Albedo off of her at the moment-- um, the narrator wants to reword that, but he can't figure out a better way to say that. So he'll move on. She simply listens as best she can with one ear stomped in and the other on the ground- which isn't great, granted, and it hurts, but she can hear bits and pieces.
Heather Mason, realizing her mistake, and knowing she'd not have the courage to try that again...just lets the gun fall from her fingers. She falls face-first onto the ground...and, swearing into her radio, she sobs into the grass, her red eyes weeping.
(Damn her. Alessa.)
This is the problem with being crazy. You occasionally address things that -are not there-. Albedo blinks, recoiling as he notices at last that Alessa seems to have simply disappeared. Damn it, that's not usual, even for him. So it's with some annoyance he reaches down to grab Lucca again, tossing her away from him casually as one would discard a piece of trash. It's probably distinctly not smart for him to be standing in the middle of the bridge with the keyed-up guards still on the castle walls--but do you see him caring?
Albedo Piasora strikes Lucca Ashtear with his cast away attack.
[Hero-IC] Heather Mason is crying. It's quiet.
[Hero-IC] Cael Cyndar says, "Hum..."
[Hero-IC] Adol Christian says, "He has a power that he claims to have no knowledge of. At this point, I don't know what to believe... However... For his own safety as well as our own, he's held in captivity."
[Hero-IC] Cael Cyndar says, "... Hello?"
[Hero-IC] Station says, "...Heather?"
[Hero-IC] Adol Christian says, "....."
[Hero-IC] Station says, "Heathere, you okay?"
[Hero-IC] Yuko Ahso says, "What's wrong?"
[Hero-IC] Heather Mason sobs. Chokes. Clears up. Quietly: "I... lost the fight. I'll... be okay. I just got scared. Thanks. ... Thanks."
[Hero-IC] Alucard says, "Fear...Hm...a base emotion..."
[Hero-IC] Cael Cyndar says, "Erf. You had a fight? With who?"
[Hero-IC] Station says, "Y'need someone to come pull you out?"
[Hero-IC] Heather Mason says, "No. Lucca's here."
[Hero-IC] Cael Cyndar says, "Ah that's good. Don't worry about it to much.. Heather was it? Not everyone can win them all here."
[Hero-IC] Station says, "All right. She doin' okay?"
[Hero-IC] Heather Mason after a long pause. "I don't know."
Lucca impacts with the bridge, and... /bounces/ slightly, rather like someone from the Street Fighter series when they get knocked out. Lucca, however, is not knocked out /yet/, merely hurt. She slowly forces herself to her feet, and chants. Taking a few steps back, she finishes the chant, and watches as a ring of fire expands from Albedo's location, and then sends explosions tearing through it.
Lucca Ashtear strikes Albedo Piasora with her Fire2: I Fell Into A Burnin' Ring Of Fire o/` attack.
This is starting to get annoying. And boring, as much fun as Lucca is to push around. The URTV whips around as the fire explodes outward from his position, fire crackling from his skin and hair. He waves a hand almost dismissively, as if batting away the flames--and once more they go out, as his regeneration takes over. "Enough," he comments. "This is getting -annoying-." He turns his hand toward her, palm out, and looks away, eyes narrowing as he tries to figure out where Heather's gotten to.
And a ring of fire, a mockery of Lucca's attack save for this is Ether, not magic, centers on the inventor's position.
Albedo Piasora strikes Lucca Ashtear with his fighting fire with fire; magic with ether attack.
Heather Mason doesn't do much at this point, other than calm herself enough to report on the radio. She picks up the gun again, and...puts it back in her pocket. Maybe she'll be brave enough to try again later. She looks back toward the bridge: wondering if it's all right to go, or, what is going to happen now.
Lucca's clothes suffer mild burns; nothing serious yet, but it's starting to really sting... and after a year in MSE, Lucca isn't cut out for this sort of thing yet. And so, she does the smartest thing she can: she runs for her house. As fast as her little legs will carry her... which isn't too fast. She needs Speed Tabs badly.
As Lucca flees, Albedo doesn't pursue. She seems to have gotten whatever 'point' he was trying to make, and so the madman has lost interest in her. His focus is on the girl out there in the woods.
He goes stalking off the bridge, eyes narrowed as he casts about psychically for her. He is the weakest of his siblings in the arena of mental combat, but he still has some skills--ones that are 'good enough' to find a single teenager in the woods, even among the background noise of the frightened guards regrouping.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are," he mutters to himself in a sing-song. There, a footprint on the grass...he turns his steps, 'listening' harder for her as he does.
Heather Mason hears the sound of some approach... but her radio doesn't crackle. She steels her hand around the most convenient weapon...which happens to be that unloaded pistol, but, will have to do, until she can grab the lead pipe. The gun still makes a satisfying 'clack' in her hands as she moves it around the tree. It's probably that guy. ...Lucca left. Not even an easy warp home. "Great," she mutters.
Albedo pauses in his tracks, raising his head slightly as he catches some sound from Heather's direction. He remains quite still, not even breathing, as he listens...then turns and starts off that way. He's making no particular -effort- to be quiet, but nor is he simply stumbling around. What a strange kind of hide and go seek--once more, he pauses to listen again, orienting on her position by sound and psychic senses alone. "Where aaare you...?" Heather Mason glances down at her gun. No, it isn't loaded, and it won't do any good, so, while she still has an opening, she swaps weapons. She puts it back in her pocket--it's important--and pulls out the heavy pipe. She steps around the tree, standing next to it. She's probably visible enough now, and, visibly armed, despite the possible futility of her crude weapon.
Pause. Listen. At last, Albedo smiles to himself and steps around another tree--coming face to face with Heather. He folds his arms across his chest, remaining where he is at a 'safe' distance from her. "So there you are," he says, more to himself than her.
Heather Mason points the tip of the pipe at the man, and takes a step forward. As if daring him to come nearer. "All I want is to find a warp home. I assume you're done killing people here."
"Mmmm?" Albedo doesn't come any nearer, but he doesn't seem to register the pipe-wielding girl as a threat, either. In fact, he gives her a playfully malicious smile, keeping his arms folded across his chest. "I haven't even -started- killing people yet--thank you -so- much for reminding me."
This isn't Alessa, and he's not killing anyone NOW, so Heather feels her interest waning, just as her anger was. She just doesn't want to take the chance that he'll start trouble when she leaves. "What DO you want?" she asks.
"Now?" Albedo unfolds his arms, stepping away from the tree and toward her. "I'm--curious," he continues, in a purr. "About -you-, girl." He raises a hand as he approaches her, stops just outside easy pipe-swing range, doesn't go any further. "And your--'sister'." He grins suddenly. "Who probably won't -like- it if I try playing with you, will she?"
Heather Mason fights the urge for the automatic comeback. 'She's not my sister.' But...it was better that people did think of them that way, than come to some other kind of conclusion. That's what she had been planning to tell Lana, anyway...if she asked. "No. I don't think she will." Heather effects an attitude immediately, pushing her hate into her throat. "We're not gonna make any videos with you... freak. So I guess I'll be SEEIN' ya." And she starts to walk away... or, rather, stomp, in search of the warp zone that brought her here. Shouldn't be too far....
A low, disturbing laugh meets Heather's comments, but Albedo doesn't follow her. Instead, he watches her walk off--with a certain amount of delight in his eyes. "No, no...I suppose not. But the hatred is -so- much sweeter...from the both of you. Or," he pauses, eyes narrowing. "--the one of you, however you think of yourself." He laughs again, turning away suddenly with a flip of his cape. "I'll be seeing you, too, with any luck..."
He knows.
Heather turns her head over her shoulder. "How. How did--"
How did he know? A psychic. Or was he...One of them?? Heather stares at him, as he's leaving, for a moment, and, then, she feels the hum of the warp, hanging between two trees. Without thinking, she backs into it, blue swirling, enveloping.
Heather Mason escapes into a warp zone.

[Fac-Palace] Emeralda Kasim says, "Met old... friend today. Citan Uzuki. Is good... doctor and... hopefully I... will be... able to... convince him... to help... the Palace."
[Fac-Palace] KOS-MOS does NOT blink audibly. But part of her REALLY wants to. "Uzuki?"
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "I wonder if he's related to Chief Uzuki. Heh. I haven't vocalized that contemplation much.."
[Fac-Palace] Jim Raynor says, "Eh Shion's back?"
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "Doesn't seem like he might. No, Jim."
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "Citan's what he's callin' himself tho'."
[Fac-Palace] Heather Mason says, "So...um... that guy. Albedo. Can he read people's minds?"
[Fac-Palace] KOS-MOS says, "I did not know Shion had any relations beyond her brother Jin."
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. seems to lockup for a moment. "Are you even near him, Heather?"
[Fac-Palace] Emeralda Kasim says, "Not know... if he... is her... relative. Have never... heard Citan... speak of... her before..."
[Fac-Palace] KOS-MOS says, "Occam's razor dictates coincidence."
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "He shouldn't be able to read minds outside... his own, I hope, Heather.."
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "The only minds he's ever had access were to mine and Gaignun"
[Fac-Palace] Meis Triumph says, "...While this might sound odd coming from me, DC, but well, how large /is/ this thing gunna be. I mean, if you want me to lead, I can only handle like four or five women at once in my group. Any more and well, bad things happen. Or at least according to the Triumph Family Book. Something about Batheroom Breaks of Doom or something like that. Either way, you call the shots so if you want me to be ready, I'll be ready."
[Fac-Palace] "Charlie" Dreamcaster says, "Well how many do we have right now?"
[Fac-Palace] "Charlie" Dreamcaster says, "At my last count we were sitting at four."
[Fac-Palace] Heather Mason says, "So.... um.... are you sure about that?"
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "... he has telepathic potential.. that's.. all I can say. He can reach into minds of others."
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "I..."
[Fac-Palace] Jim Raynor says nothing but Aster says, "I'll say this being a telepath is a curse... a freaking curse."
[Fac-Palace] Heather Mason says, "Oh."
[Fac-Palace] "Charlie" Dreamcaster says, "I don't see what the appeal is. Half the fun of being social is trying to figure out what people are thinking, especially when it comes to romantic endeavors. If you knew what everyone was thinking, it'd probably get pretty boring."
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "He's DANGEROUS, Heather.." His voice sounds half-like breaking. "He's.. raped the minds of Realians that Mizrahi built before... he.. has to be close to them.."
[Fac-Palace] Meis Triumph says, "Heather, Yuko, Nei, Cassandra, Anna....And I think I am forgeting one. At least I am sure about that. But I am not sure how many you recruited either. [Fac-Palace] Heather Mason says, "I didn't ask if he ENJOYED it. I just wondered CAN he. Now I KNOW."
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "Heather, please, PLEASE get away from him as fast as you can!!"
[Fac-Palace] Gaignun Kukai Jr. says, "He's lunatic."
[Fac-Palace] Heather Mason says, "I already did. ... Jeez, what's your damage?"
[Fac-Palace] "Charlie" Dreamcaster says, "Junior."
[Fac-Palace] Jim Raynor says nothing but Aster says. "I agree with you caster you think i like reading the surfaces thoughts of those around me? If not for the Psi-dampers I have i'd dive into the stuff that everyone keeps burried...
[Fac-Palace] "Charlie" Dreamcaster says, "She's an Angel, she can take care of herself."
[Fac-Palace] Heather Mason says, "I mean...yeah, he's a creep, but, sheesh. I just wish someone had warned me about the mind-reading thing."
[Fac-Palace] "Charlie" Dreamcaster says, "Well, maybe now would be a good time to issue one, Heather."
[Fac-Palace] "Charlie" Dreamcaster says, "Just so everyone else knows, I know I sure didn't."

[Fac-Palace] Heather Mason says, "Well.... he read mine, and, that makes me real unhappy, okay?"
