Evening the Odds

Skull Monument - Brig

Also called Punk's Punishment Room, this is an area filled with smaller, sealed chambers. Some of these chambers are nothing but cells, blocked off with energy shields and double-sets of bars, to seal in clever prisoners. Other chambers are sealed with airlocks, and have very little in them other than a blaring light and the interrogation chair. A supply closet at the end of the hall of cells is stocked with whatever equipment a more sinister Master might need to get unruly prisoners to talk, and, a few random, even more sadistic things that are to be used against Robot Masters who need a bit of discipline.

North [N] leads to Skull Monument - Underdark.

Sheena is... better than yesterday, at least. Thanks to the medical drones, the burns are at least not /as/ bad as they were immediately after she nearly fell to her death, but it still takes some degree of effort to stand. Presently, she is sitting, back to the left wall (looking in from the 'door'), and doing... a whole lot of nothing.

The brig being poor-lit for dramatic reasons, Sheena will realize that someone is in approach, but may not realize who that person is. After a while, though, the glint of light on crystal-spires becomes apparent, and, then, Gemini Man steps to the front of her cell. He peers in toward her, looking at first just to make sure she's awake. Then, he starts to talk. He has something behind his back: what it is, isn't apparent yet.

"We've been having a lot of jacked-up dreams lately. ... Mai asks me, do Robots dream, and I told her, well, yes. We do, when we bother to take a rest cycle. Last night we dreamed there was some ... /dead,/ ninja bitch hanging out collapsed in the basement of the Monument. When we woke up, we remembered you were probably still alive." A pause. "Which is good, because, we wouldn't want to deny the girl the pleasure. We even brought you a present. Change of clothes. That's how nice we are."

He smiles, and pushes a button on the side of the cell. This shuts off the energy-field that surrounds the bars, though, not the metal bars themselves. Then, he throws the item he was holding-- it's something made from fabric-- through the bars and onto the floor of the cell.

Sheena ignores the change of clothes completely, though she does at least turn to look at Gemini Man when he begins to speak. She doesn't trust /anything/ a Robot Master is going to give her- she might even try to go without eating, depending how long she's in here. "Well," she says, after a few moments. "It's certainly flattering that you're /dreaming/ about me," she continues in her usual self-superior tone, in spite of the fact that, at the moment, it's hardly her place, "But I don't think we're at the stage of our /relationship/ where you're allowed to decide what I wear." She saves the choice words she has about Mai for when she can say them to the former Red's face; no use wasting them here.

"Oh. We're disappointed. Even if we don't really think it's a relationship. Pardon. We'll take our time."

Gemini peers into the cell for a moment.

The cloth, should Sheena become curious later, isn't anything along the lines of a skimpy gown: it's a T-shirt, from the Gemini T-Shirt collection. This particular one reads, in bold red writing: "I Survived the Death Laser Room and All I Got Was This Lousy T-shirt."

"We just have to wonder was possessed you to come crawling into the Monument. Especially... through THAT door. Were you looking for her, or do I flatter her with the suggestion?"

Sheena can't help but chuckle a little at this. "Maybe. Maybe not. I certainly wasn't expecting /lasers/." She attempts to kick the apparent change of clothes into a bit better light, and fails-- maybe when she's feeling a bit better. "You didn't come down here just to throw clothes at me, did you?"

"Of course not. That's a joke, and we like jokes, but we do pretty much everything for two reasons." Gemini smiles.

Then, he starts to walk toward the cel, despite the fact that he's already very close to it. When he reaches the bars, he steps... THROUGH them... in the manner of liquid metal, reforming into his solid matter when he reaches the inside. An old movie trick, though it doesn't make it less impressive.

Of course, he's also still on the outside of the cell, this holographic trick requiring a body-divide. The Gemini on the outside leans with his back to the bars as if he were no longer interested in the conversation, fumbling at his belt for his cigarettes.

The Gemini on the inside continues the line of conversation. "Make no mistake: we're plenty pissed-off at you. You might remember a forcefield." And though Gemini was disguised at the time in question, Sheena will more than likely recognize him as the 'person' who protected Mai.

"... /You!/" she exclaims, now that Gemini is on the inside of her cell- through a very impressive trick, one might add.

"Ugh. Right now, I don't /care/ if you're pissed off at me. You ruined my best chance at /solving/ the problem of that irritating little snot before it got out of hand. Get out." She lowers her head now, however; why is, for the moment, a mystery.

Gemini Man -- that is, the one inside the cell -- makes a derisive sound. It can't properly be described as a snort, since, he has no nose, but it's a near approximation made by blowing through the mouth. He continues to advance on Sheena, until he is only about two feet away, right outside of Personal Space. "No, no, we think you have it all backwards. YOU... are HER problem, you sorry woman. And you're already out of hand."

He reaches out and grabs her chin, forcing her to look up, unless she backs away in time to avoid this, or otherwise slaps him off.

This... actually helps, somewhat, for the (tremendously ill-advised) course of action Sheena plans on taking now. As her chin is brought up, she reveals just what she was trying to hide with her head down- those small, subtle movements of one's mouth that one makes when attempts to generate spit. Spit that is, of course, now headed for Gemini Man's face. This, hopefully, is a powerful enough statement to allow her to forego 'properly' respond to the last thing that the Robot Master said to her.

Gemini Man is stunned a bit by this, and, it does cause him to let go of her chin. He makes a 'gkkkkk' sound, and, reaching up with that same hand, he wipes the spit off his face, and flicks it onto the floor.

He tries to hold back his temper. Throwing a punch at the woman would result in the same back, and though he'd eventually win due to robbing her of cipher and firepower, it wasn't what he'd had in mind for the encounter. His chest expands with a breath as he tries to calm himself. Then, he whips out his hand again, to clench it around her neck.

"Wh--" Sheena... doesn't have a whole lot more to say to this, considering that she can only get out vague, strangled syllables with a hand clenched around her neck. This doesn't mean she doesn't try- unsuccessfully- to pry Gemini Man's arm off, of course.

Gemini Man feels a bit better... now that he's gotten this far. "What were we saying? Before we were interrupted."

The Gemini outside the cell, meanwhile, has lit a smoke, but there's no scent drifting through the air. He's very relaxed about this, letting his 'illusion' do the work today.

"Oh. Now we remember." Gemini squeezes the hand around Sheena's neck for a moment, then, lets up. "We won't kill you ourselves-- although we'd like to-- since we don't want to rob someone else of the distinct pleasure." Another slight squeeze. "HOWEVER. The poor girl. Has been working so hard... and come so far... and I KNOW she wanted you, not just to die, but to desperately suffer. Now... what do you THINK, based on your fight with Miss Mai, that her chances of beating you really ARE? And..." He loosens his hand enough to let Sheena talk. "Feel free to answer honestly."

"Nearly nonexistent," Sheena begins, now that she's free to talk. "If she didn't have Yin, she'd be dead /already/, and she isn't exactly very /bright/. Or well trained-- I /think/ that's Matic's fault, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Yosho's. Neither of them could turn out many good students." A pause. "... wait. She thinks she can make /me/ suffer?" Sheena makes a small 'hmph.' noise, finishing her response there.

Gemini Man 'hmphs' right back. "Well... see, THERE she wasn't specific. She just, you know. Wanted you to suffer. While we're here, we'll take it upon ourselves again to help the poor girl out."

Gemini's hand tightens again, and he starts to lead Sheena back to her chair, in that fashion.

"See. She wants a fight, and we want her to win that fight. And we mean no disrespect to her; she's been training hard. But, if you admit you don't think she's good enough to beat you NOW, maybe we'll go ahead and make it fair." Gemini pushes Sheena back onto the seat, letting go of her now.

Sheena can't really resist /too/ hard; her legs are barely able to /follow/ the course Gemini is forcing them to take, let alone go against it. As she lands in her chair, it tips back a little, hitting the wall before she manages to make it fall back forward again.

"Go ahead," she says rather plainly, equal parts anger and resignation coloring her voice. "I can deal with a fair fight." She isn't sure /what/ Gemini plans to do to her, but she's sure it isn't pretty; she grips the seat of the chair tightly, getting ready for whatever might be coming.

Gemini Man is stricken with a laugh.

It's not one of his 'dad's laughs. It's a low, slow, bubbling laugh that strikes into his chest, and ripples up out through his mouth in quiet waves, forcing him to squint his eyes. He has no choice but to indulge it for a moment, perhaps in anticipation of his plan. He rarely gets to have this much fun. Apparently Sheena was the rare.... low-profile prisoner.

He flips his right hand, around, and, now, he's holding what looks... not like a knife, but like a large pair of scissors. Hitting a random streak of light that may be here, or may be created BY him, the edge gleams. He waits to see if the woman will just put up with this, or if he'll have to tie her down before proceeding.

Sheena, amazingly, doesn't move even after noticing the apparent scissors. Nothing that happens any time soon is going to hurt more than /falling in molten metal/ did last night, and the less she struggles, the less /he'll/ probably enjoy it. This doesn't change the fact that this is probably one of the most terrifying situations she's ever been in.

Gemini Man isn't sure how he feels about the woman not struggling, but, at least, that will make his next task a bit easier. He takes one step, to her side, and, then--rather rudely, one supposes--puts a hand on her thigh. He kneels.

And then, he pulls off her right boot. As if he were fitting her for shoes.

This is a little unpleasant, considering all the bits of molten metal that are now-- for better or for worse-- being dislodged from her skin, and Sheena grunts in pain. She really doesn't care about the hand on her thigh at the moment. After all, the other sensation is a lot more painful and attention-grabbing.

So far, so good. "And now, comes the tricky part."

Gemini lifts the foot up in his left hand, and... opens the scissors still in his right. Then, with a quick motion, and a flash off the holographic blade, he STABS the open scissors into the back of Sheena's heel, right into the part called the Achilles Tendon. He twists the blade a few times, just to make sure it protrudes all the way to the other side.

Snip.

Sheena... can't really hold her composure at this. She tries, and manages not to scream for a good few seconds; however, around halfway through the second twist, she just can't take it anymore. She screams, at the top of her lungs, for quite some time.

Given the pain of this first attack-- even though it was quite expected-- Sheena may not even notice as Gemini quite calmly...does the second, the exact same way. Rip, stab, twist... SNIP.

And now, leaving Sheena to bleed from both of her heels, he stands up again... waiting for her screams to subside. His right hand, and his blade, is covered in blood, but, in a flash, the blade is gone... the blood is not.

"Does that seem closer to fair to you?"

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man says, without being specific, "She's a screamer."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "Oh, yeah. She can get a bit bitchy."

Once Sheena manages to stop screaming, she looks toward Gemini Man with an expression that says quite plainly, 'If I could walk, I would kill you, Cipher or no Cipher.' She is silent for a moment, and then says, "Not... /quite/. You want... to break... an arm, too? Or... maybe... an eye?!" It seems that, in spite of her injuries, she's going to egg the Robot Master on. Why... may only make sense to her.

Tengu Man has connected.

On one side of the cell, Tengu Man has somehow managed to stay shut down, in his rest chamber, while Sheena was brought in, and thrown in, right next to him. Now, Sheena is on the opposite side of the cell, sitting on a chair that's been placed there just for her benefit. She doesn't have much choice but to sit, at this point, however, since tendons have been cut in both her legs: bleeding streaks from her heels onto the floor. And standing in front of her chair directly, is Gemini Man, with blood on his hands.

Outside of the cell, is also Gemini Man, though he's been uninvolved in this procedure for some time now. He's idly smoking, and, basically staring disinterested at the wall.

The Gemini hologram, within, gets back on his knees again, peering at the tortured woman. He smiles at her slightly, his mouth curling up at one side. "Only if you insist," he says, in response to her taunt.

He puts that bloody hand under Sheena's chin again, and, first, before doing anything else, he kisses her. Why would he do this? Largely, of course, because she's a woman, and because he assumes it will bother her.

He's still smiling when he pulls back.

It does bother her, but at the moment, she isn't particularly feel /energetic/ enough to slap him or anything. Burns and blood loss generally do that. She can't even quite think of anything particularly hurtful or witty to say; she just gets ready for what she knows is probably coming, now.

Gemini Man does this slowly mostly because there doesn't seem to be any complaint. He reaches up with his left hand, straight across, toward Sheena's right eye. He then slides his thumb in to her face... in the space between her nose, and her eyeball.

Sheena won't feel a thing while he does this, but the reason for that is simple. That hand isn't solid, and doesn't exist, and it slips through her head easily like the hand of a ghost. Gemini carefully balances Sheena's chin on his still-solid, right hand, as if he's lining up. The left palm of Gemini's hand is still visible, even if it isn't solid, which, basically means Sheena sees nothing but hand out of her right eye.

However, the woman's left eye is still uncovered, and Gemini looks into it for the span of two breaths, as if he's giving her enough time to consider what he's about to do.

The hand goes solid suddenly, and Gemini pulls. It's almost a 'popping' motion, a flick of the thumb, but it causes a gush of blood like an eruption from her skull.

[Radio: (A) Masters] Gemini Man transmits, "Hmmm hmm hmm hmm hmm... ha ha ha ha... HA HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!"
[Radio: (A) Masters] Eta CO Shade Man sniffs, "Blood. I smell human blood.... Gemini.. why do I smell blood?"

There's -- another noise, like an echoing pop, except this is more of a 'snap'. It is the noise of Tengu Man waking up.

Though he has been completely motionless and nonresponsive for about a week, the Punk Judas turns his head and his ever-open eyes all the way to the other side, staring at Gemini and his unfortunate victim. His eyes are still the same viral bright-green, with one flickering between that and the normal blue. Though it has flickered since he was brought in here, it suddenly stops completely -- and resumes the green color as though it had never been blue at all. The Demon's arm moves to rest upon a knee, and battered as he is, he watches attentively as Gemini Man makes an art of torture.

[Radio: (A) Masters] Gemini Man transmits, "...You'll have to tell us someday what it smells like, or if it's similar to the way it tastes."

Sheena covers her eye-- or, well, eye /socket/-- with her hand, once the eruption of blood begins; the warm red fluid leaks through, between her fingers, and down that arm. "Had... enough... yet?" she manages to choke out in spite of the gradually worsening pain. She doesn't even /notice/ the Tengu-- a missing eye tends to decrease one's ability to see.

[Radio: (A) Masters] Ice Man transmits, "...Okay, what's going on now?"
[Radio: (A) Masters] Eta CO Shade Man transmits, "It smells like a delicious feast.. however, in your case. Copper."

Gemini Man draws back his left hand. It's bloody, now, too. As he closes it to a fist, one might assume the woman's grey eye is still within it, buried cushioned in the palm.

There is the sound, echoing through the cell, of him laughing. Yet, Sheena will not see him laugh, nor will Tengu as he's first waking. The laugther is coming from outside the cell. The Gemini inside the cell is quietly, sotically, staring. "We think that will do." He swiftly glances to where Tengu is finally rousing. "Don't kill her. She has to live."

Tengu Man simply watches, much like one would watch an opera or a baseball game or television. This is entertainment, this is sport. This is fascinating.

Tengu's lip curls in an invisible snarl at Gemini's words. He speaks only one word with infinite hatred, malice, and bitterness in his broken, rasping voice: "Temptation." One presumes he's been getting far too much of it lately.

And then he does something REALLY dramatic. Wait for it-- wait for it-- He turns his head back and resumes his original position, staring outside of his cell as blindly as before. The one eye begins its erratic flickering again, and Tengu Man is lost within himself.

Tengu Man has disconnected.

Sheena simply continues to try and suppress all the bleeding. Because, you know, there's lots of it.

Some obscure noise is heard coming from the entrance. It sounds like a rough piece of material rubbing againsts some other thing. When it gets closer it's obvious of what it is. Sniffing. Sniff.. sniff sniff sniff. Until suddenly a tall silouette enters the brig. It's completely plain of where that sound is coming from. Shade Man. "Aha.... Gemini Man. You sod, you didn't tell me you had human blood..." Shade slurs a bit. "Can.. you.. let me taste it...?"

Gemini Man turns his back now, walking back to the cell entrance. He feels like he's basically done his job here. The Gemini on the outside is still laughing, and, drops his cigarette. It vanishes as it hits the ground; was never there at all.

As he walks to the bars of the cage, the hologram first reaches with his left hand to transfer the item he's holding through the bars, and into the palm of his counterpart. Then, he walks back through the bars. For a moment, parts of him are no longer real, and, so, those parts that contact with the bars of the cell leave blood spattered on them as he melts through, causing a very unusual pattern.

Both Geminis talk at the same, precise time. "Be aware this isn't because we think so much of you, or, so little of Mai, that we really think the score needs evened in this way. It isn't even your pain we relish, and we don't have any desire to drink your blood like some of our more animalistic brothers. It is your FEAR... on which, we are high. And though you hide it well, you've given us enough to ride on for a good, long time." The voices were synced exactly, but the chuckle that follows seems broken, as if the Gemini's can't line it up quite right without being each other's echo.

The hologram then keeps walking, down the hall, though, the original turns around again, just to glance, and helpfully add. "There's a patch under the shirt. If you want it."

The hologram walks forward toward Shade Man, holding out his own empty, though, still-bloody, hand, for him to examine as he might.

Shade Man grins and he leans forward and sniffs Gemini's hand. "Oh.. wow. That's the stuff...." The Vampire looks back towards Sheena, and he grins animalistically. He bypasses the other twin, and he says charismatically, "Gemini.. can I play with it?"

Given that Sheena's had her tendons cut and an eye ripped out-- not to mention the burns from last night-- she looks ..pretty ragged. The Gemini still by the cell looks at Shade, and says, only, "She'll probably not squirm for you. Don't kill her. She has to live."

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "What's your name, ninja boy?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "You're asking me? Tch. What's /your/ name?"

"Of course she won't squirm... I won't let her..." Shade Man's eyes turn red with bloodlust. "She won't even feel a thing..." However, when Shade Man sees Tengu Man in the cell with her, he looks partially delflated, and then he turns back to the other Twin, "You don't feel like getting some of her blood for me, would you?"

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "No one cares."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "Obviously /somebody/ does, why else would he ask?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "Ennui."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Gemini Man. Now you go."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "Hien."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Jazz transmits, "Is it my turn yet?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "You're Jazz."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Jazz transmits, "...oh, phooey."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "You ruined the surprise ending!"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "I've met you, remember?"

Gemini Man rolls his eyes just a bit. "Well. Then. Get a cup. And don't drink all of it. We'll give some to the doctor for analysis."

The hologram doesn't get any closer to leaving, now, since, he might be needed to do his phasing trick again.

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Jazz transmits, "Yeah, but you ruined the surprise!"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "I'm like that."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "We just asked so we'd know. We're collecting Strider trivia." "And body parts." "And body parts."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "How creepy. What you got so far?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "Are you offering rewards for new finds?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Possibly." "An eye. It's grey. We aren't giving it back, before you ask. It has a future."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Raymond Bennet transmits, "Wow. That really is creepy."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "Would you provide a rate sheet for interested brokers?"

And that is exactly what Shade Man goes off to do. It only takes him a few minutes to return with a plastic medical cup, "Here you go, Gemini Man."

The hologram walks over, back through the bars in that same, liquid-metal way, and then, reaches over for Shade to hand him the cup.

Provided that is done with a minimum of fuss, he walks over and puts a hand on Sheena's shoulder... very carefully, as if he suddenly felt pity for the woman and was trying to be nice. He puts his left hand on the inside of her wrist, pulling that hand away from the socket of her eye. Gently. He'll only use that wound to fill up the cup.

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "We assume this is a Maverick inquery. All right. That sounds entertaining."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "Consider it a friendly game which serves both our interests."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "One of them is off-limits. We'll send a photo with the rate sheet."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "Very well. Internet or courier?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Hm. Internet. We're too messy to courier."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "Someone will be in contact with you shortly."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "Ha, the BDs are going to get boned."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Bee... Dees?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "Yosho's flower dancers."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Ah. Yosho. Yes. Bonus money for him."

[Radio: (A) Masters] Enker transmits, "What is going on over the global frequency?"

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "What about for, like, me?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Are you special?"

[Radio: (A) Masters] Gemini Man transmits, "Flesh trade. It's very en vouge apparently."
[Radio: (A) Masters] Enker transmits, "....I see."
[Radio: (A) Masters] Gemini Man transmits, "We have a substantial Strider blood sample for the Doctor's analysis."
[Radio: (A) Masters] Knight Man transmits, "Bah, I haveth that global garbage gagged for the moment."

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "Yeah."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "If you haven't heard of me ask Hiryu, or Sheena, or Xiang sometime."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Hear that, everybody? He's 'special.'"

[Radio: (A) Masters] Enker transmits, "I will leave it in your capable hands."
[Radio: (A) Masters] Eta CO Shade Man sounds ecstatic, "I'll make sure it gets to Father."

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Raymond Bennet transmits, "Ouch."

[Radio: (A) Masters] Enker transmits, "I have things to attend to."

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Raymond Bennet transmits, "You sort of walked into that."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "Into what?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "It's all right. It's GOOD that they're recruiting ninjas off the short bus these days."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Hien transmits, "What the Hell?"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Templar Fefnir transmits, "I believe that was supposed to be some sort of childish but poorly executed insult."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Tactical Raccoon transmits, "We need more executions."

Sheena is, of course, going to have to make this difficult, though that doesn't say much given the scope of the wound. It just takes a little longer, since she /attempts/ to close her eye.

[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Raymond Bennet transmits, "Well, come on, then. Let"
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Raymond Bennet transmits, "Let's flap our mouths right back."
[Radio: (F) Worldchat] Gemini Man transmits, "Not needed. We were just curious. No, no bonus money for Hien."

Shade Man grins widely, and takes the cup full of blood when offered. He takes a small sip, and moves it all about his tongue. "Mmm.. it has that rugged taste to it. Keep up the good work, Gemini. I'll go take this to father and leave a note," The Vampire walks off sipping intermittenly.
