Image: Stahldrache is the epitome of physical power. Easily twice the height of most 'bots, his massive build promises nearly unmatched strength... and delivers. His coloration is primarily dark green, with silver highlights and trim. His beast mode is a Komodo dragon, the giant monitor lizard from Indonesia. His scales are deep green, with small muscle groups highlighted in silver. He has silver claws, a segmented silver and green tail and several metallic panels on his flanks and throat. His optics are matte black.
In robot mode, the aesthetics of his beast mode carry over. The beast mode head drops down over his back and his scales become a mail-like armor. The beast mode limbs fold into his torso as his robot mode arms and legs move out, trading places. The silver panels become a collar and shoulder armor, and the tail moves up along his back to become a carry-all and holster for his shotgun. As with his beast mode, small muscle groups are highlighted in silver. However, his robot limbs have more silver than their beast mode counterparts; Stahldrache's forearms are covered by silver gauntlets, and the knuckles of his five-fingered hands are silvered, with green palms and fingers. His shins are similarly protected with armor that wraps around his ankles and over his knees but leaves his calves exposed. Stahldrache has tridactyl feet with blunt, thick toes.
Stahldrache's robot face is brutally ugly. Patches of sclaes run up his thick neck and over his jawline, and his drama mask face (a la Transmutate) appears to have been smashed into a wall, breaking the nose across the bridge. His eyebrows and the upper part of his cheekbones are covered by another green, scaly ridge which shadows his eyes and reinforces the harsh, violent quality of his features. This ridge wraps around the sides of his head and conceals the holes that, lizard-like, act as his ears. His optics are a hellish red, split by vertical slit pupils. His mouth is filled with the same curved, serrated fangs as his beast mode, giving his grins a gruesome, feral appearance. For all this, his face is surprisingly expressive, and he frequently uses non-verbal communication to get his point across.
History: When the Darkside and the Axalon first dueled in orbit over prehistoric Earth, the Axalon's hold was torn open by the Predacon guns, spilling many stasis pods into orbit. One of those pods contained the protoform who, thirty-some stellar cycles later, would become Stahldrache. The pod's orbit devolved quickly, and it crashed into a small island in a vast archipelago. Half-buried in the loam and covered by smashed trees and plants, the pod was protected from the worst of the transwarp explosion - but not protected enough to prevent the transmetallization of the protoform inside. There the pod stayed, undiscovered by either Maximal or Predacon during the original Beast Wars. When the conflict between Maximal and Predacon again reached Earth, the crafty Upgrade found the pod and reprogrammed Stahldrache. Stahldrache then entered the Beast Wars as Upgrade's not-so-trusted lieutenant.
Roleplaying hints: Upgrade's reprogramming has made you into a consummate Predacon. Revel in your own strength and despise others who can't hack it. Lie, cheat and dissemble. If your quick mind and facile speech fail to be convincing, lose your temper and overawe others with your complete lack of scruples. Above all, stop at nothing to meet your goals and complete your mission. You are cunning and violent, and will take any opportunity to inflict pain on others, regardless of alliance. Do twisted and horrible things to other 'bots you find in your power: mutilate them, mock their pain and loss, try new poisons and tortures on their unwilling bodies and minds. Hiss a lot, and be sure to smile unpleasantly at anyone who attracts your ire or attention. Raise your eyebrow, glower, glare or stare malefically as the situation calls for it.
You were protoformed with great physical power but you are woefully ignorant in many important areas. Take every opportunity to learn - subtly interrogate others, sifting for the information you want, then soak it up like a sponge. You are confused by feelings that fill you when you see a stasis pod or a newly protoformed Cybertron. This bears careful watching.Continue to seek more and more power for its own sake. You can never have too much, can you?
Quotes: "Does that... hurt?"
[Raises his eyebrow and says nothing, but with his jaws around
Silverbolt's spark, Blackarachnia knows what he means anyway.]
Upgrade [admiring Stahldrache's handiwork, in this case Silverbolt
crucified by his wings with Edge's paired swords]: That's really great.
Stahldrache [laughing]: You like that? I thought that was a nice touch.
Timeline: Stahldrache appears briefly in Episode 21, "Balance of Power." He stands in the backgound during the Predacon duel for leadership and sees his first real action in Episode 22, "Into the Darkness." He immediately becomes a major adversary for the Maximals, and will often be found in heavy combat. (Note: Stahldrache and Edge only co-exist between "Into the Darkness" (Episode 22) and "Art of the Deal" (Episode 25), and there is very little time in which to set a story.) Stahldrache begins to fill out as a character with the introduction of Hardhead and Starfire, both of whom Stahldrache feels a curious attachment to.
