Spark Location: Center chest
Vehicle Mode: Battle-wyvern, armed
Image: Nightbird's beast mode is a Transmetal wyvern, with black metal paneling for scales and detailing in shades of purple and blue. She has clawed back legs, and strong hands at the end of paneled wings. In her robot mode, the wyvern's tail folds out into slender legs. The head flips like a hood resting on her back, and her wings remain. A plasma cannon is hidden in this hood/holster, and she can fire it from the wyvern's mouth after converting the head slightly in her "vehicle" mode. Nightbird's robot mode face, like that of her namesake, has a paneled mask beneath angled red eyes. However, it is rumored that, unlike her creator, Darkwave, she is beautiful beneath her mask, which she removes for no one.
History: During the Revolutionaries' initial occupation of the Predacon Pit, Darkwave designed a new elite unit called the Razor Women. A high priority was creating a female general capable of leading the unit, and Darkwave put personal effort into designing Nightbird, whom he named for the only "Decepticon Female" recorded in history. Her protoform made Transmetal, she was imbibed with the DNA of a dragon-like creature from an alien planet, giving her both the flight of the bird and the bite of a beast.
Roleplaying hints: Quiet and secretive, but not malicious, Nightbird holds
fast to her Predacon honor. A single whispered word (in a slight Asian
"ninja" tone) goes a long way when that
word is uttered by the Pride of the Predacons. Delegate carefully among your
troops only those actions for which they are qualified. Your faith in the Razor
Women is complete, but watch other Predacon allies keenly. Favor the honorable
directives first, though the less noble parts of the Predacon code still have
their place. The pride of the Decepticons is absolute, and they deserve the
most respect of all.
Nightbird was designed to be loyal to Darkwave,
but this loyalty manifests as a matter of choice, not an unwavering directive
of programming. Her relationship with the Predacon leader is much like that of
father to daughter, and Nightbird always watches out for her father's affairs.
While it is common for Razor Women to choose mates (the lower ranks are known
to be choosy, if otherwise promiscuous), Nightbird will not consider it,
considering matters related to her work and position to be her top priority.
Besides, she was told that no one was good enough for her.
Quotes: "Predacons are the children of Decepticons. Maximals are the adopted children of a Decepticon. We must respect our siblings, and even our adopted siblings."
"Energon cache located, sir. We are awaiting instruction."
"You may find my trust is not easily earned. But when you have earned it, you will have the trust of all the Razor Women."
Timeline: Nightbird comes online at the end of "What We Have Become," and recieves her first field test as a commander in "Conquerors' Glory." Having passed this test well, she serves as Darkwave's right-hand assistant from then on.
Notes: Nightbird's an eleventh-hour phenomenon so far as the "Secrets of Cybertron" series goes, but we like her, so you can bet she has more experience points stacked on by the time, say, "Land of the Poisoned Skies" rolls around.
