Image: As a turtle, Hardhead is all over metal, green with bright yellow detailing. He has a sharp brown beak, and his shell looks slightly tarnished. It is not much exaggeration to describe his robot mode as a bipedal turtle, as his shell remains firmly on his back when he rises to his other mode. However, he flips out longer legs and arms, with silver joints, and has four-fingered hands, while his turtle limbs tuck into his shell. He has paired clubs that flip out from his robot mode arms, but he rarely remembers them, preferring the simple raw power of his fists. His robot mode face retains the shape of a turtle's head. In his vehicle mode, he tucks in all his limbs, and produces engines that give him added speed underwater. Hardhead is attentive, but not reactive, and his movements are slow and plodding.

History: When the crew of the Axlaon left Earth behind, their prisoner Megatron tied to their Autobot escape shuttle, they left a few of their Axalon stasis pods behind. The majority of these pods fell into the ocean, and their inhabitants were destroyed by water pressure. However, one pod fell into shallower water; though damaged, it was not entirely crushed. The pod was found by Angel and Krakken, members of the Predacon Revolutionaries, on their trip to Earth thirty years after the end of the war. Finding the pod still in servicable condition, and Transmetallized from transwarp exposure, they installed a Predacon personality chip, and activated the pod. Unfortunately, they were soon to discover that the Predacon they created was almost too damaged to use: a destructive behemoth whose mental processes were severely retarded by the pod damage and the addition of destructive programming. Eventually, Hardhead imprinted on some of his fellow Predacons, seeing Angel as a surrogate mother and Stahldrache as a big brother. After learning to contain Hardhead and point him in the right direction, the Predacons were able to put the heavyweight to use.

Roleplaying hints: Hardhead likes attention, and he likes it right now. An easy way to get it is to make a royal mess, so, break things. Knock over the Maximals' block houses and sandcastles. You dislike things that are neat and pretty, and often times you will break something just to watch it tumble: even the terrain. Use a monosyllabic vocabulary; Hardhead knows "I," but he doesn't know how to make sentences with syntax. Everything he says is loud and short.
Those who take the time out to treat Hardhead well find he is not very difficult to placate. A pat on the head, a candy bar, or a kind word will quiet the turtle for some time. Giving him a job he likes to do, like busting Maximal heads, quiets him longer.
You like Angel because she is your first Predacon "mommy;" she is small and needs protecting, and you miss her when she is gone for too long. You like Stahldrache because he says nice things about you, and makes sure people don't pick on you. Darkwave is sometimes nice, too. He taught you some songs that help you remember things, like how to turn the computer on, and why you shouldn't smash ticking things. If you're in a difficult situation, hum your song so you won't forget.

Quotes: "Want smash!"
"I smash this?"
[...people liked to give Hardhead candy.] "Chocomungus!!"

Timeline: Though Hardhead's pod is originally salvaged in "Into the Darkness," the Predacon does not make an appearance until some time later, in "Prisoner," when he is mentioned as currently unfit for combat. He is finally deemed fit for duty at the end of the second season, in "Virtual Journey." From then on, he works with the Predacons in his own special way, surviving until the end of the series.
Hardhead gains his one-dot Knowledges gradually, mainly through the fourth season. Flickers of the more complex Knowledges (Demolitions, Procedures, Science, Repair) will not appear until then; Hardhead's stunted Intelligence never does increase.
