Image: Scanner is not of an impressive height, nor impressive in appearance. His robot body is several shades of grey, with accents of silver and black. Bat wings on his back are tucked well out of view, as he does not deploy them in this mode. A black Maximal symbol on his chest is worn like a badge, and his optics have the appearance of dark shades. He does not employ his beast mode with much frequency; when he does, he loses no mass as he becomes a large grey-furred bat. He walks with a stiff gait, and his voice is flat and even. Though his mouth is always visible, his facial reactions are nearly expressionless. His princple weapon, rarely drawn, appears as a small black firearm, though it packs a punch in battle.

History: At the dawn of his new Maximal empire, Shockwave soon discovered that he and Elita could not handle the entire government on their own. The Magnaboss would need an inner council; a group of Maximals that could manage the Alliance's most secure documents, monitor their missions, keep tabs on their research, and file their reams of data. Shockwave designed the programming of the Maximal Security Council on his own. Agent Scanner was designed to Shockwave's exact specifications, and even the composition of his spark was deliberately engineered. The agent went on-line three centuries ago as the ultimate head of secure matters for the Maximal Government, and he was designed to fill the role perfectly.

Roleplaying hints: Your life is your job, and it is quite possibly one of the most important jobs on the planet. You are entrusted with the government's most valuable, most priority secrets, and you have yet to slip up. Never dilvulge information without permission. Never stray from the standard procedure. Every job must be handled by the book, by the clock, on time with no mistakes.
Scanner rarely shows emotion, particularly those emotions that would require laughing or smiling, though he has been known to get testy on occasion. Scanner lies with just as straight a face as he tells the truth, but he is incapable of lying to the Magnaboss. He prefers to ask questions than answer them, and will dodge questions about his job with swift and polite accuracy. He refers to everyone, guilty or innocent, as "sir" or "ma'am." He is always courteous, though many Maximals find his detachment unnerving.
Scanner employs Download 4 to see if the subject of one of his interviews is lying to him. However, he never makes the first Download attempt on the first question, instead leaving that job up to one of his assissting agents (to protect him against such cases when encoded security may be in place in a subject). On a rare occasion, Scanner will read a fact directly, but he always prefers to hear his answers rather than steal them. Scanner makes a hobby of chess, and other mental games, but his work is his real hobby, and he is extremely fond of secret codes, secure libraries, and the occasional cloak-and-dagger operation.

Quotes: "We'd just like to ask you a couple of questions."
"It's a routine procedure, sir."
"I'm sorry; I'm not able to provide that information at this time."

Timeline: Scanner first appears in the episode "First Contact," where he interviews Darkwave before presenting him to the Magnaboss. Ever loyal to the Maximal cause and the Magnaboss' wishes, he remains vital in carrying out the Magnaboss' plans throughout the series, and beyond.

Spark Location: Usually center chest

Image: The "Secret Service" or "Men in Black" of the Maximals are tall, sturdy, black metal 'bots with obvious car fronts for chests. Slightly larger in their vehicle modes, they are the traditional car of the Men in Black, a Ford with tinted windows. They have dark shades for optics, and what appears to be earpieces in their ears (with which they employ their audio-based Mechanisms).

History: Scanner's most trusted agents are Maximals programmed for the specific duty of guarding the Magnaboss's secrets. Though it is rumored that many of these 'bots are actually drones, many of them are real Maximals, protoformed for this function in specific, and as old as the race itself.

Roleplaying hints: Maximal Men in Black rarely speak unless spoken to. When they do respond, it is in short but polite sentences. Unlike their leader, they are not shy about reading minds to obtain information. However, like their leader, they are business-first, by the book. Most Maximals are intimidated by their silent demeanor, and many realize they are being scrutinized, inside and out, when they pass under an Agent's sunglass-gaze.

Quotes: "Yes, sir."
[says nothing, nods once]

Note: Naturally, the two POSes that follow Scanner around by habit are nicknamed "J" and "K." Scanner and his Agents have always used the same sheet, with Scanner's changes annotated beside the regular agent stats, so the agents continue to share an electronic sheet.
