The View From the End

An explosion rocks the Maximal vessel Axalon II. Its commander, Cheetor, gives the orders to open fire...and yet another Predacon starfighter tumbles from view. The Axalon II crew—a mismatched Maximal set comprised of commander Cheetor, pilot Daybreak, engineer Edge, computer expert Klaatu, security officer Miriam, and communications officer Kalee—is triumphant. However, they are damaged from the encounter, and low on fuel. When a large size Predacon destroyer appears on the monitor, they are forced to retreat. They locate an "edge of the universe" base, Centauri Station, where the sparse Maximal crew is surprised to see them… particularly the females. While Cheetor deals with the Maximals' forced retreat and catches up on a few current events, his crew explores the station. Klaatu speaks with Stargaze, the Maximal researcher on the station's top level, and sees an amazing sight through the station's telescope: a wall of energy on the border of what the Maximals call the Restricted Zone. Using what he knows from his commander about the "Beast Wars," Klaatu concludes that the time fluctuation is the one caused by Megatron's interference with the Autobot Ark, and planet Earth is not far away. While Axalon II is repaired, the crew's females have their own way of dealing with the greasemonkeys' flirting: Kalee with a smile and a giggle, Daybreak with the cold shoulder, and Miriam with outright response...enough to catch the interest of the mechanics' apparent boss, Octane, and earn herself a trip to his personal quarters. However, before the conversation can move away from the mundane, a red alert is sounded. The Predacon starship has tracked the Maximals down. Edge suggests abandoning the base, but Octane disagrees: he insists that the Predacons will try to board. He's correct, and Cheetor positions his troops to attack the army of Predacons if they exit the ship. The Predacons insist that they won't harm anyone if Cheetor surrenders...needless to say, his response to the threat is not favorable. There's all-out war in the Centauri docking bay as the Predacons strike. Edge and Miriam each choose their favorite subcommander, but Cheetor's triple-threatened by the troops, and in serious trouble…until Octane joins the fray. He rips through the front line, and kills the Predacon commander outright, forcing the others to retreat as fast as their ship can escape.
