Image: In beast mode, Velocity is a three foot high golden Chihuahua--apparently someone’s idea of a joke. A bulbous golden head is his most noticeable feature, with two oversized ears with silver interiors perched on top of it. His huge pupil-less eyes are orange. A dark brown mohawk adorns his head as well. His jaws are small, with an equally small nose on the end of them--but, when he grins, he shows off his needle sharp teeth. His neck is slim and leads to a small, barely noticeable golden body. His teensy-tiny legs have prominent silver shoulder joints, vaguely spiked elbow joints that lead to dark brown three-toed paws with small white claws. His tail, silver and jagged, can signify his moods. In his vehicle mode, a panel flips open and jets are revealed on his back. In robot mode, Velocity carries most of his animal traits and coloring. He barely even changes size, too, standing at four feet. His ears and hairdo stay on his head, while the rest of his beast face goes onto his shoulders, giving him orange-eyed shoulder pads. Vel's robot face is gold and round, his green eyes wide and childlike, however, a brown 'five o’clock shadow' coloring interrupts the gold passed his small nose, giving him a decidedly mixed appearance. His four beast mode legs have folded into his hips. The front two holster two machine guns, while the second (more miniaturized) pair of beast legs holster a dart launcher and an energon knife. His gold and silver highlighted robot mode arms are lithe, with brown five-fingered hands, as are his gold and silver legs that end in two small feet. His silver tail is another reminder of his beast mode.

History: Velocity is a Maximal from a mixed sector, a former drug dealer for the Blood Fires, a gang of Predacon criminals. Velocity’s job was to make 'contacts' among Predacons, get them their goods (hallucinogenic cybervenom and tampered-with energon being the most prominent kinds) and do anything to get their money afterwards. All the while he needed to learn how to evade patrols, where to hide stashes, how to act intimidating and in command. It was a life for the quick-witted, the stealthy, the brave--and Velocity was none of the above. 'Invincibility in a bottle' was the only thing that kept him alive: it being a highly addictive drug called High-Octane, which helped with speed and combat related activities. After spending a year on the street, the higher ups realized it would be bad for business to have a dealer that consumed most of his cargo; they turned the speedy little bot into a drug maker, not a dealer. The scientists of the Blood Fires’ secret labs started out educating him. Strangely enough, though, Velocity was even happier in the labs. Finally, he was away from the streets, safe from guns, and, hey, he was pretty good with this science stuff! And many of his fellow scientists were nicer than the dealers on the street; they turned a blind eye whenever he lapped up some leftover High-O. Heck, most of them couldn’t resist sampling their own wares as well. Things continued on life this for two more years, until a disastrous event occurred. A rival gang, the Slagwires, invaded the lab Velocity and some fellow scientists worked in. The Slagwires destroyed all the equipment, and many of Velocity’s comrades. Since this was a quick mission, they didn’t have time to kill everyone, much less cowering little bots like Velocity. Suddenly, his safe little lab wasn't so safe anymore, and he realized that due to his connections with the Blood Fires, this could happen again. So, he did what any self-respecting bot would do. He squealed to the Maximal police. The Blood Fires supplied drugs to Maximals and Predacons, and Velocity guessed the Maxie police would be interested in knowing that. He told them the names he knew. None of the Maximals were too important, since Velocity’s low rank didn’t give him too much info, however there were enough to pique interest. Velocity also gave them enough information to incriminate many Predacons, but such matters weren't in the Maximals' jurisdiction, and were given to the Pred police, who managed to arrest many drug users and members of the Blood Fires themselves. For his services, and after a rather lengthy review of his conduct, the Maximals decided that Velocity would be upgraded with a Transmetal body (under the assumption that, with some Blood Fires still running loose, he’d need all the power he could get). They also gave him some upgraded weaponry, such as an energon knife and a dart launcher so he could utilize his scientific potential in a combat situation.

Roleplaying hints: More often seen bearing his teeth in a nervous grin then a growl, Velocity is still adjusting to life in normal Maximal society. Not that he doesn't like it, most of the time. Finally, no one’s trying to kill him! Of course given the fact that he’s about as smart as an anvil and as hyperactive as, well, a Chihuahua, even Maximals might be tempted to harm him. Fortunately, he has his Transmetal mode to help him escape injury, as well as his inclination towards scientific work, which makes him more valuable than the average grunt. He has a genuine desire to make friends and please others--the only problem is that his skittish and chronically nervous nature makes that hard for him, two character traits made much worse by his addiction to a well known Cybertronian drug. Despite all his problems, Velocity is quite happy to wander blindly through the present in order to see what the future has in store. And, as long as there won’t be too many weapons involved, he’ll be happy with any outcome. He’s a little dim, a little excitable, more than a little skittish, but a good kid, as long as there’s someone else around to do the thinking for him.

Quotes: "Hey, I know this stuff...oh, wait, was I not s’posda touch the button? Ahem. Ah, look at the time, gotta jet!"
"Fighting? Uh...you sure you need me fer this, compadre?"
*Mindless yiping and the pitter-patter of receding feet*

Device Notes: High-Octane: (One Point Device) High-Octane, also sometimes called "High-O," "Doublers," or "Enercrack," is an addictive type of alternate fuel made popular on the mean streets in recent years. Its most common form is as a white liquid, stored in jars or tubes and glowing with a shimmering light. The formula was said to be brought onto Cybertron by an exiled Maximal criminal, who designed the fuel and swears by its efficiency. Each "dose" of High-O counts as a one point Device. It is taken in as regular Energon fuel: one dose fills five points in a character's Energon pool (but can not fill a pool above its maximum). However, each point of High-O spent counts as two points of Energon. For example, a character can spend one point of High-O and perform two combat actions, or activate a Weapon and perform an action, or activate two Mechanisms, etc. If both "points of Energon" are not spent within the same combat round, the effect of the second bonus point is lost. High-O has been praised for its output levels when used as fuel for vehicles or starship engines. However, the unique properties of the concentrate make it damaging to the interiors of sentient or partially organic systems. Cybertrons with High-O in their systems tend to be nervous and excitable. If the Cybertron uses up all the High-O in his system, he "crashes," losing two points from his Dexterity pool for an entire day after he depletes his last point of High-O. Without access to the chemical, more advanced addicts will also lose Stamina points, or have nervous jitters, tantrums, and hallucinations. A character that runs on High-O for a week (replenishing his internal supply) loses a point of Dexterity (from shaking and jittering) for the next week the chemical is in his system, and a second point of Dexterity after two weeks. Crueller side effects to addiction can be invented as Storyteller permits. A character that uses up his dose of High-O loses the "Device," but more Enercrack can always be obtained through black market purchase or from a Science-minded character that has access to the formula (and some refined Energon to produce it).
[High-Octane has its roots in the Octane/Ark scenario in Secrets of Cybertron. "Enercrack" was the players' favorite term for the substance.]
