Image: In beast mode, Barricade is a huge, land roving Glyptodon. Once transformed into robot mode, he can take to the air with jet engines that extend from the shell on his back to give him additional means of attack. In both modes, he is colored a vivid orange, with patches of silver integrated into his structure. During transformation, the legs fold up into the underside of the shell, while the massive robot legs fold out. His shoulder plates (joined together, at that point) also extend out of the underside and then split apart to reveal the robot arms. Finally, the Glyptodon head folds down to chest level and the robot head pops up, which looks like a metallic version of a Japanese samurai battle helmet, with his cutlass weapon being a part of the helmet itself.
History: These days, with a possible peace between both Maximals and Predacons, good soldiers are becoming more and more difficult to find. Barricade is one such example. At the time, Barricade was a patriot to the Predacon race, which ultimately led him to the Predacon armed forces. He excelled in his new profession, showing signs of an impressive soldier. However, in the eyes of Barricade's superiors (and just about every other Predacon soldier who knew him), he had a big problem. That problem was his strong compassion for the innocent, both Predacon AND Maximal (some Predacon's genuinely believe that his personality module was mixed up with that of a Maximals while he was in the Pit). On more than one occasion, his missions had wound up being aborted because civilians were at possible risk. Because of this, Barricade's superiors sought to fix this problem by consulting the Predacon Secret Police. They proposed a complete personality wipe as well as physical Transmetal II enhancements. Barricade soon found himself being held prisoner at a remote building on the outskirts of a small city. First came the Transmetal II body which was a successful procedure, save for one small detail. The doctor in charge was a nasty sadist who thought it would be humorous to verbally torture him during his many days in captivity. Once the physical modifications were complete, the personality wiping procedure started. They were successful in wiping the majority of his extreme compassion down to normal and were about to continue to turn him into a cold-blooded killer. It was at that point when a massive explosion rocked the building. The explosion knocked some equipment on the walls loose, which fell and destroyed the machine keeping Barricade unconscious. Fully awake, Barricade ripped free from his bonds and systematically knocked the scientists out cold, although the lead sadistic scientist got away in the confusion, much to the chagrin of Barricade. Escaping the lab, he encountered his saviors, a group of Maximals sent to investigate strange readings coming from this building. After some misunderstandings and quick, heated explanations, the Maximal group agreed to take Barricade back to their base for questioning. They found that all he told them was true and pondered what to do with him. Barricade volunteered to become a Maximal warrior, saying that the Predacon's desire to brainwash him has made him lose all sense of loyalty. Barricade, while altered into a much larger Transmetal II, still retained his militaristic skills and impressed Maximal High Command. He spent time adopting Maximal tactics, protocols, procedures, etc. while practicing his new powers. He was eventually shipped off to protect an outlying Maximal station. While respectful that he was chosen for this job, he's a bit resentful to be shipped off to a place that has made him a simple security guard, which is why he longs for an excuse to get away.
Roleplaying Tips: While his extreme caution and compassion circuits have been toned down during the Transmetallization II process, he is still a big, caring lugnut with a strong sense of justice and morality who will never harm someone (Cybertron or otherwise) who appears to be helpless or defenseless. He is a strong believer in the notion of " slow and steady wins the race" and has been known to offer himself (the shell armor on his back) as cover for smaller sized comrades. He is quite patient, save for when in the presence of a particularly nasty person, upon which he needs to be calmed down immediately lest all Pit break loose. And once he decides to fight, whether through a mission, defense or just plain anger, he's quite tough to subdue. Upon joining the Maximal side, he was offered the mantle of leadership, but he resigned, as he is not used to permanent leadership and will follow a good leader when one is around.
