The Wind Spirit summons a djinni, who are native to the realm of Air. When she arrives, she offers three wishes, for the Maximals to divide as they wish. Paladyne makes the first: that Victoria might be a Maximal as well, so she can live forever. The wish is granted, and the human knight becomes a Maximal eagle, as silver-armored as Paladyne. The second wish is made by Mongrel, who wishes to no longer be ugly. This wish, too, is granted, making Mongrel passable-looking in robot mode, though his beast mode remains unchanged. Shadowraith takes the third wish, though it takes him a long time to answer it. Finally, he decides to wish for the ability to use magic, as a mage from this world can. The djinni tells him the wish is granted, though there is no noticable change. If he wants magical spells, he'll have to study them, like any mage would, just as he asked for.
Meanwhile, back on the ship, Snowshriek has decided that he will take the risk of letting Nagata out of her cell. She is allowed to wander, still manacled, about the cabin. Snowshriek is convinced that she is not as far from reform as the other Predacons, though Clockwork and Trenek are not so sure.
Duty done, the djinni vanishes, and the Wind Spirit bids the Maximals farewell. They step back into the hallway, and the air elemental there offers to take them to any place they wish to go. They simply ask for a passage back to their ship, and this request is honored.
The Maximals regroup, restock, then head up into the mountains again. The Maximals remaining on the ship are much impressed with the changes that were made by the wishes. It takes some time for Victoria to get used to her new abilities, though Mongrel doesn't have any notable changes other than looks. This time, Snowshriek accompanies the group, and Clockwork immediately locks Nagata away again.
The Maximals locate the cave that the Wind Spirit told them about, and they enter. Within, they meet up with a company of orcs, fresh from plundering adventurers that moved on ahead of them. The Maximals don't battle the orcs, but move on. The trail splits, but Shadowraith sniffs out the more well-worn path. However, it seems that the last of the adventuring party was killed, and his ghost now attacks the Maximal party. Fighting with magical sword, Shadowraith manages to destroy it. Beyond this battle, there is an open hallway with columns of solid purple crystal: the legendary Amethyst Hall where the Sun Blade is kept.
There is one final obstacle, however: not just any ghost guards this blade, but Lady Onyx, the cleric-turned-wraith who was able to invade the Maximal ship. Now with a horde of wraith followers, she turns her wrath on the Maximals. Snowshriek attempts to break through and race ahead, and he has to fight the wraith leader alone while the other Maximals take on her minions. After a difficult battle, they destroy the ghosts...and manage to enter the antechamber and destroy the wraith woman as well. Fortunately for Snowshriek, it is energon shielding that protects the Maximals from the wraith's deadly touch, and he had just enough shielding energy to ward her off.
After the evil ghosts are defeated, the sword, the holy Sun Blade, is secured.
