Image: Rattrap's beast mode is a common grey rat, far too large to be natural. His robot mode is short, carrying the rat's features with it in mannerisms and in the buck-toothed face. He has red optics, and his silver and gold head has a design atop that gives the look of an exposed brain. He has five-fingered golden hands. The majority of his beast mode rides on his back. He carries his charges on the insides of either arms, in small compartments clearly and proudly marked with the Maximal symbol.

History: You've been around...seen plenty of places and met plenty of interesting people. You were the greatest energon miner in the galaxy, and a darn-good espionage agent...not to mention a hit with the ladies. But luck and money on Cybertron soon ran out, and soon enough you were looking for another odd job. You signed up with a small Maximal crew, hoping galactic exploration would be fun and look good on the résumé. As luck would have it, the exploration ship turned into a warship, and now you're stuck fighting lousy stinking Predacons trapped on a planet way too far from a decent strip-joint. Every day you're more convinced that the "Beast Wars" are going to end in disaster, especially for you.

Roleplaying hints: You don't miss an opportunity to complain...lucky for you, there are plenty of them. You can't abide by Predacons of any type; you loathe them, and you don't like the idea of having one in the ranks. You're older than your own commander, and he should respect you; you hate that it has to be the other way around. Don't miss an opportunity to point out the mistakes of another subordinate, particularly the young ones or the Pred one. Rhinox is an old friend; you're very protective of him. Everyone else gets a derivative nickname: "Chopperface" for the dinosaur. Mostly you miss Cybertron. You signed on with an exploration ship for a peaceful job, and you're tired of war, Predacons, and second-class lodgings.
Rattrap players also need to take into account his Brooklynesque accent. Any character opposite the rat often punctuates his most ill-timed of complaints with the popular response: "Shut up, Rattrap."

Quotes: "We're all gonna die."
"We were supposed to be doing deep-space exploration! Playin' galactic patrol wasn't nowhere in my job description. You sure you're cut out for this commander gig?"
"I know this little place [on Cybertron] where you can get dirty mech fluid with just a touch of radium...ooo...it'll take your head right off! Not only that...eh...not only that, but, the serving-bots are walking around minus their torso plates, if you know what I'm sayin'."
"Once a Pred, always a Pred."
"Oh, terrific! Now we can all get reduced to hot burning slag together."

Timeline: Rattrap, despite his bursts of cowardice, is a trusted member of the Maximal crew, and stays with the crew throughout the war. He is trusted with the role of Optimus Primal's second-in-command. He also proves useful for spying on enemy dealings (he serves the episode "Double Jeopardy" as a double agent).

Image: Rattrap as a Transmetal gains a shiny silver body, and a somewhat more impressive phyisque. The increase in body mass, however, hasn't changed his small stature in either mode. His radio console is very visible now on his blue and silver chestplate. Rattrap's face, though now silver, is still very similar in appearance to the face of his old body. His beast mode head now rides, split in two, on his shoulders; the remainder of his beast mode, wheels and all, rests on his back. His rat mode, brown, red, and silver metal, has green optics, and a mouth of sharp teeth with its own kind of permenant grimace. It gains wheels and an engine to become Rattrap's new vehicle mode.

History: When a Transwarp explosion, caused by the destruction of an alien device in orbit, hit the planet known as Earth, several of the Cybertronian life forms currently stationed there underwent physical changes, becoming Transmetals. Among them, you, Rattrap, were fortunate enough to recieve a complete upgrade. You and the somewhat dismantled Maximal force fended off the oncoming Predacons until Optimus was back in command. The group went through a few personnel changes for a while... True to form, you put your best face on throughout... ("We're all gonna die.")

Roleplaying hints: You like your new Transmetal body and your speedy vehicle mode...save when it makes you into a carrier for other Beast Warriors. It's Dinobot, often as not, that rides along on your back, and complains the whole way. You and he have a hate-hate relationship...but, to be perfectly honest, you've gotten so used to irritating him and being irritated by him that you're not quite sure what you'd do if he were gone. Other Predacons, Predacon-Predacons, still irk you, particularly that dame they have with them, who always seems to be up to something... Silverbolt you find a refreshing addition to the unit, in the sense that "Birddog" needs to have a long pole surgically removed from his exhaust. Picking on him is pretty entertaining, when he's in the right mood. Hey, being the smartaleck guy that keeps all the other troops on their toes is a big responsibility, and someone's got to take it. This unit probably would have been slagged long ago if not for you and your timely rescues and advice.

Timeline: A sheet with enough statistics to serve for Rattrap through the last two seasons of the show nevertheless does ignore some larger steps in the character's life. Rattrap is technically Maximal commander between the episodes "Aftermath" and "Coming of the Fuzors, Part Two," before Optimus is revived and rejoins as the commander. Silverbolt is also added to the force in "Fuzors," giving Rattrap another antagonist to play himself off. The death of Dinobot, in "Code of Hero," is especially difficult for Rattrap, who is the first Maximal to salute the warrior's fading spark. When Blackarachnia is added to the unit, in "Optimal Situation," Rattrap makes a new fast enemy, distrusting the spider as an ex-Predacon. It should also be noted that Rattrap has a tense relationship with the Transmetal II Dinobot, in the third season, and in the unaired "Dark Glass" (adjacent to "Go With the Flow" in the episode timeline), he makes a bid to alter the mind of Dinobot II to revive his old friend. Rattrap, despite his constant complaining to the contrary, survives the entire series, being among the Maximals when they leave for Cybertron in "Nemesis."
