You step off the sidewalk where it ends, into the pavement where it splashes.
There is a softening sensation as your feet hit the road. It is not altogether
unpleasant. As you step again, you realize that you have left the town behind.
There are tree branches overhead. You are not walking on
solid pavement, but, instead, on the surface of a deep pool.
You have a choice to make. |
